How To Choose A Wedding Theme

Wedding excitement is high and it's finally time to start planning the fairytale wedding you've always dreamed about. We've put together some tips and advice to help you choose your wedding day theme. Keep reading and we hope to leave you inspired to create your own magic...

Stay true to you

Your wedding day should reflect your personality and what you're both passionate about. Sit down with your fiancé and chat about your likes and dislikes and take it from there.

If you're both into spending your weekends chasing waves, then perhaps a beach themed wedding is for you. Or, if you're both into the outdoors, perhaps a forest wedding is more suited for you. Have fun when choosing your wedding theme and remember, it shouldn't be a difficult decision as you'll ultimately be choosing what you both love and enjoy!

Seek inspiration

Start your planning by looking for inspiration - everywhere!

The internet, restaurants, bridal magazines and SA Weddings, of course! Inspiration is everywhere. We've put together some amazing styled shoots, which will be sure to spark some creativity. Browse our website for styled shoots, articles and galleries and let your imagination run wild.

Your venue is the most important aspect when it comes to creating your wedding theme and making sure it all ties in together. It will most certainly set the scene for your day, so make sure you choose the perfect venue for you.

If you don't have a venue, think about what you'd like your dream wedding to be like. What kind of venue will suit the theme you have in mind? Have a shortlist of venues and start making appointments to view the spaces available.

Consider season

Consider the season you're getting married in. This may not seem all too relevant at the moment, but it definitely is!

So, if you're planning a winter wedding, you can centre everything around a cold winter's day...think a burning log fire, a wedding colour palette featuring dark dramatic tones such as burgundy, navy or emerald green, or you can simply go all out with a winter wonderland theme!

In contrast to the above, a summer wedding will be structured around light, pastel colours, the beach or an outdoor garden setting.

Create a moodboard

Once you have an idea of what you'd like for your wedding day, get started on that moodboard! Seeing all the images together will help you to decipher what kind of styles and colours you lean towards naturally.

Something we absolutely love doing is creating mock wedding tables. Lots of wedding decor hire companies will allow you to do this, so that you can play around with ideas for your wedding day!

Ladies, remember...the most important thing is to have fun! This is such a special time in your life and you want to remember it for all the right reasons, of course.
