Love was in the air as the first official SA Weddings Couple of the Year 2022 Gala Event unfolded like a whimsical fairytale at the magnificent Kleinevalleij Venue. From the moment guests arrived, they were transported into a world of enchantment and romance, making it a night to remember. This magical evening celebrated all things love, bringing together the most dazzling couples and the best of the best in the wedding industry for one unforgettable extravaganza! Exceeding all our expectations and ensuring that our finalists and guests got to enjoy that VIP treatment, we could not have wished for a more perfect team to join the SAWCY Girls this year!
To bring this EPIC gala event to life, we needed a dream team of event sponsors to work their magic as well as the most spectacular venue to host the event of the year. The breathtaking Kleinevalleij Venue provided the ultimate backdrop for a night of dreams and romance. This spectacular function venue, nestled amidst lush vineyards and offering panoramic mountain views, specializes in all events and is the perfect combination of simplicity and elegance. We were absolutely blown away by the idyllic Kleinevalleij Venue. To ensure that guests arrived and departed in style and of course comfort, Shuttle Up provided their exceptional and expert services.
Shaking things up this year and making the very first Couple of the Year 2022 as memorable and legendary as ever would not have been possible without a top-class group of service providers to make the magic happen! This includes the ultimate event coordinator and bridal bestie, Amo-Creative, who masterfully coordinated the event and ensured that everything ran smoothly.
From luxurious lounge pockets to the sparkling chandeliers, Baie Goeters took care of all things décor, completely taking our breath away. Adding to the ambience, Ohrr Candles created a magical touch, complemented by the fun and fabulous neon signs from The Glow Co which levelled things up! Another SA Weddings favourite, Fleur Design was the mastermind behind the elegant stationery which tied everything together into a seamless experience.
Cape Tents created the most impressive tent setup for our guests to enjoy the enchanting evening. Adorned with fairy lights and perfectly placed heaters, there is a reason why Cape Tents is ALWAYS at the top of our list when it comes to all and any kind of event.
As the sun set over the mountains, the Couple of the Year 2022 stage came to life, thanks to the unparalleled expertise of Tech X. Providing everything from a stunning stage, mesmerizing lighting, and crystal-clear sound to seamless live streaming for our audience at home. Courtesy of Apex LED, our guests were treated to customized slide shows on a state-of-the-art LED screen to show off our finalist’s love stories.
We also HAVE to give a shoutout to the electrifying dance floor and DJ Gavin who had us razzling and dazzling the night away.
Making his grand entrance and debut as this year’s Couple of the Year 2022 MC, Carl Wastie kept our audience captivated and chuckling throughout the evening. The smooth flow of the event was expertly handled by this charismatic KFM radio host, who kept the energy on a high throughout the evening.
Of course, no event is complete without a delightful selection of food and beverages. Doolhof Wine's Bubbly bar treated our guests with their sparkling wine and their sublime selection of wines, while the exotic African Infused Gin Bar welcomed our guests with their premium selection of Inverroche Distillery gin cocktails which had guests raising their glasses in celebration. For all our coffee lovers, Monarch Coffee served up their aromatic blends, keeping the conversations lively and the evening chill at bay.
Throughout the event, the guests were treated to delicious delicacies, from moreish mini-burgers to the yummiest risotto balls, all by Taste Ateljee Catering. To complement the catering, the talented team from Blõs Bakery created a candy station like no other! With jaw-dropping cakes and scrumptious sweets, this bespoke candy station was full of tasty treats that had us coming back for more! The event would not have been the same without the dedication and hard work of the entire service staff from JT Events as well as the talented students from Diens Hospitality.
Get Lucky Entertainment once again joined us for this year’s event, providing the ultimate line up to add an extra touch of glamour and excitement! Carla Louw, Sunset Espresso, and the special effects really knew how to get our guests into the groove!
To give our guests that VIP experience, we had the mesmerizing Fire Tribe bringing the HEAT, literally, with their fire dancing and epic choreography. Also adding to the WOW factor, we had a 360 Photo Booth from Gold Otter for our guests to go wild in creating fun and fabulous memories that they were able to share INSTANTLY!
Our brides were prepped and pampered by the amazing glam squad from Cecilia Fourie. With the magical touch of these talented professional makeup artists, every bride felt like a queen AND the SAWCY Girls also got to get glam and experience the talents of the most incredible Cecilia Fourie makeup team.
Speaking of getting prepped and pampered, SA Weddings beloved Director, Kath was once again dressed by the talented George Stander from Leocé Couture. Designing the most exquisite ensembles, this year he yet again exceeded our expectations, also dressing Kath’s daughter, Zoe. Talk about the best dressed mother-daughter duo!
This year’s group of finalists were absolutely fabulous, fun and of course, full of love! We loved getting to know each and every one of them, hearing their love stories and finding out what makes them the perfect couple! Although we believe that they are all winners, there could only be one crowned the SA Weddings Couple of the Year 2022. A huge congratulations to our very first official Couple of the Year, Kristy & Dawid Joubert, our 1st Runner Up, Sibongile & Bonginkosi Shabalala and 2nd Runner Up Monique & Waldo Weyers! Spoiling our Top 3 Couples and adding a touch of elegance, Emily Bloom created three stunning bouquets for our top brides and three dapper boutonnieres for the top grooms.
