Anja de Villiers & Morné de Villiers

Married on Mar 29, 2025 in Gauteng

Magical Moments

Our wedding day was filled with moments that were both magical and deeply meaningful. One of the most special parts of the morning was getting ready with my mom and having my hair and makeup done with my mom and grandmother by my side. Those quiet, intimate moments set the tone for a day overflowing with love.

Walking into the venue felt like stepping into a storybook. Rustic Gem’s warm, earthy atmosphere and the beautiful branch accents in the ceiling created the perfect backdrop for our rustic theme in royal blue, white, and silver.

Seeing my dad for our first look was one of the most emotional moments of the day—a memory I will treasure forever. But stepping into the church and seeing my husband waiting for me was just as powerful. After everything we had been through, including his diagnosis and a 17-hour mouth reconstruction surgery only months before the wedding, that moment felt like a victory, a blessing, and a promise of hope.

My husband’s royal blue suit—found after months of searching—and my custom-made royal blue and white gown made us feel completely ourselves, perfectly in tune with the day we had dreamed of.

Every detail, from the minimalist décor to the floating tealight candles and our chosen colours, created a peaceful, elegant atmosphere. But the true highlight was standing together, celebrating not just a wedding, but life, resilience, and a love that overcame more than we could ever have imagined.

The Honeymoon

We spent our honeymoon in Marloth Park, a peaceful and romantic escape surrounded by nature and wildlife. It was the perfect place to unwind after the wedding, reflect on everything we had overcome together, and enjoy quiet, meaningful time as newlyweds.

My Special Day

For my wedding day, my hair and makeup were done by Houson Beauty. I wore an elegant updo, perfectly complemented by soft glam makeup with lashes, giving me a radiant yet natural glow.

My custom-made wedding dress was designed by Wilma du Plessis. The gown’s royal blue and white combination, along with its exquisite details, made it uniquely mine and perfectly suited to our rustic, elegant theme.

I paired the dress with white vellies for a comfortable yet chic touch, and lace lingerie that felt delicate and special under the gown.

For jewellery and accessories, I chose earrings and a veil, completing a timeless and elegant bridal look. Every detail—from the gown to the accessories—was thoughtfully chosen to reflect my personality and the romantic, meaningful day we had envisioned.

The Venue

We were married at the beautiful Rustic Gem Wedding Venue, a place that felt like stepping into a storybook from the moment you entered. The wedding was a whole weekend celebration, allowing us and our guests to fully enjoy every moment together.

Our guests stayed on-site for the weekend. On Friday, we kicked things off with a relaxed braai, creating a warm, fun atmosphere to welcome everyone. Saturday was our big day, filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. On Sunday, everyone reluctantly departed, leaving us with the sweet afterglow of an incredible weekend shared with our closest family and friends.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

Leading up to our wedding, I kept things simple and natural—there were no specific health, fitness, skin, teeth whitening, or spa treatments. My focus was on enjoying the journey, and I relied on my hair and makeup team, Houson Beauty, to create the perfect bridal look on the day itself.

Wedding Elements

Our wedding décor was minimalist yet elegant, perfectly complementing our rustic theme in royal blue, white, and silver. We used minimal flowers, with royal blue, white, and silver roses adding delicate pops of colour throughout the venue. Floating tealight candles brought warmth and a soft glow, creating a romantic and intimate atmosphere.

All furniture, tents, the stage, and lighting were carefully chosen to enhance the overall aesthetic, ensuring a cohesive, stylish look for the weekend. Every element was designed to feel elegant yet effortless, letting the natural beauty of Rustic Gem Wedding Venue shine through.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

The groom wore a stylish royal blue suit sourced from Oriental City. After months of searching, he found the perfect suit—elegant, unique, and perfectly aligned with our rustic wedding theme. The strikdas completed his look, creating a polished and sophisticated appearance that complemented the overall aesthetic of the day.

Marriage Officer

Our ceremony was officiated by Pastor Gustav van Aardt, whose presence added warmth and heartfelt meaning to our vows. His guidance and words made the ceremony deeply personal and memorable, perfectly reflecting our love story and the significance of the day.

My Captured Moments

All the special moments of our wedding day were beautifully captured by Kaalvoetkiekies. From the intimate first look with my dad, to stepping into the church and seeing my husband, every emotion, smile, and detail was preserved in stunning images. We did not have a photo booth, choosing instead to focus on authentic, timeless photographs that truly reflected the love and atmosphere of the day.

The Wedding Planner

Our wedding day was beautifully coordinated by Rustic Gem, who helped ensure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Their attention to detail and expertise allowed us to fully enjoy the day without worrying about logistics, making the entire weekend seamless, relaxed, and unforgettable.

Wedding Transport

For our special day, we kept things personal and meaningful by using my father’s car as our wedding transport. This added an intimate, sentimental touch to the day, making the journey to the ceremony even more memorable.

Food & Cake

All the delicious food for our wedding weekend was prepared by Maillard Catering, who created a menu that was both satisfying and memorable for our guests. From the relaxed Friday braai to the elegant wedding day feast, every meal was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented.

Our wedding cake was also made by Maillard Catering, perfectly complementing our rustic theme and adding a sweet, elegant touch to the celebration.

Wedding Stationery

All our wedding stationery was designed and printed by me, adding a personal and creative touch to the celebration. From invitations to any printed details at the venue, every piece reflected our style, theme, and the personal love story behind the day.

The Reception and Entertainment

Our reception was lively and full of celebration, perfectly reflecting the joy of the day. We did not take dance lessons, but the energy on the dance floor was incredible as everyone joined in to celebrate. 4 Seasons Mobile Disco provided the music, sound, and lighting, keeping the atmosphere fun, festive, and unforgettable for all our guests.
