A highlight from our wedding day is that we had it on our 10 year dating anniversary - to the day! I often joke that he now only has to remember one special date now (haha!). We were so lucky to be surrounded by so many of our loved ones, and really aimed for a wedding day that truly reflected us as a couple. From having pictures of my 2 grandpas who had passed away on my wedding bouqet (so they could walk me down the aisle too), to cutting our cake which was coined as the 'Jalex cake' - caramel and vanilla, to speeches that resulted in many tears and laughs, to dancing the night away - so much so that the DJ had to kick everyone out! It was such a special day, and we often wish we could relive it all again.
Not yet! We plan to do a trip to Spain / Italy September 2026. Life has gotten in the way of closer plans, but we'll make 2026 happen. Where Alex plans to eat her bodyweight in pasta!
Overall I focused on a classic, timeless look - but that still felt like me! My hair was curled and loose, with soft glam makeup - focusing on highlighting my eyes. My dress was an off the shoulder, slightly draped style, tight at the top and middle - softly flaring out at the bottom. I matched this with pearl accents: a pearl veil and earrings. I also got to wear a pearl ring of my grandmother, an instrumental person in my life!
We got married at Goedgeleven, which had everything we needed! A beautiful chapel, open garden for canapes, and a beautiful hall to dance the night away. Next door is a small accommodation with about 10 rooms, called Aloh, where some guests stayed.
All of the above! But I had a strong focus on being the best version of me on the day - not to meet some beauty standard. I'm generally a fit person, so really focused on nailing my eating and being consistent with workouts. I did a series of chemical peels that helped my skin glow on the day. I also did a teeth whitening session for the pics. I treated myself to a pedi and mani the day before the ceremony, with a sports deep tissue massage a few days before as well to calm the nervs (pro tip = a bath after this helps relax the muscles even more!)
My overall scheme was "... and something blue". So mainly whites, with deep blue accents and some green. All services were provided by our venue - making the day as stress free as possible!
We went the traditional black tux route for Jason and his groomsmen. The groomsmen wore ties, while he switched it up with a bowtie and waistcoat. This was provided by bride and co in Canal Walk.
They stuck to the blue theme as well, in long chiffon dresses with a slight slit on the one side. Thin straps and slight draping details to match my dress. They also had a few pearl accents in their hair and jewelry to match my overall theme. We sourced their dresses from Bride and Co as well.
He was part of our church, so another special moment having so many people who knew us on the day be part of the ceremony. His name is Stephen Walker.
The provider is Bow and Tie photography. She's the in-house photographer of Goedgeleven, and I highly recommend her. Not only did she put us at ease when capturing our special moments, but the results are fabulous. We're in awe of our photos, and every moment was beautifully captured. Nothing was missing!
Our day of planner was provided by Goedgeleven.
Making sure the day reflected us, I made sure to put a little bit of myself in the stationery by designing it all myself. I printed it at Wizards Gardens.
For our first dance, we actually learnt it off a free Youtube video - tweaking a few bits to match our own style. It turned out great! Our DJ and lighting again was provided by the venue - and kept everyone on the dancefloor the whole night!
My dad and I also did a choreographed dance, and planned this out ourselves.
