Barbara De Bruin & Niel De Bruin

Married on Apr 22, 2023 in Free State

Magical Moments

It was an absolute magical day. Every detail was perfect. A real dream come true.

We had the big privilege to promise our life together on the farm where I (the bride) grew up in the Free State.

It all happend on a crisp autumn day between sandstone, eucalyptus, grassland and buckets full of flowers in shades of pink and magenta.

During the ceremony under the eucalyptus trees; as the wind was blowing, there was an amazing presence of our Lord where we promised to love and choose each other every day, over and over until the end of time.

The day was filled with a Free State farm feeling and lots of hospitality. All were mesmerized with the harvest canapé table; including real “Kaapse kerrievis”, smoked snoek, “gebraaide” ribs and loads of breads and cheese to choose from.

The guests danced, laughed and had a blast until pass midnight.

The Honeymoon

Our perfect honeymoon.

It all began in a secluded cabin in Tulbagh, Western Cape. We stayed at Vrolikheid Landgoed just outside Tulbagh. There was the most beautiful views from our cabin. We rest and spend precious time with each other after the emotional rollercoaster of planning a wedding up until the best day of staring our lives together.

We spent time in the streets of Tulbagh, wondering around and sightseeing in this small town. We had dinner at Readers Restaurant - purveyors of fine food. Situated in the historic Church Street, and first opened its doors in 1997.

We visited wine farms in the region, and other small towns around Tulbagh. After five days of ultimate relaxation we made our way to another cabin in Franschhoek, Western Cape.

In Franschhoek we chilled in the woodfired hot tub, enjoying the sounds of nature. We stayed at a cabin called Gîte number 2. The two days we spent in Franschhoek, we enjoyed breakfast spots and shops in the streets of the small unique town in the Western Cape. We had dinner at the fancy Ruben’s Restaurant - starting off with freshly baked bread, and ending the evening with creme brûlée.

Our honeymoon was an absolute treat. Spending time with each other was our ultimate goal, resting and just being together on our own after the wedding.

My Special Day

Elegant with a modern twist.

The sentence above summarize my wedding look theme.

My dress was made by Rosa Karoo Bridal situated in Cape Town through the Once Worn Bridal Boutique in Somerset West. Made from off white satin, a long train, 3-D flower detail and bold shoulder sleeves - it was my dream wedding dress.

My shoes was custom and handmade by Sweet Pea handmade. Named St. Topez in white. It was the perfect shoe for a farm wedding because of the mid height and block heel.

My make-up look soft-elegant look. Rosey cheeks, and a natural shimmering eye. I rounded the bridal look off with a pink lip.

My white statement flower earrings were handmade by myself with polymer clay and pearl detail. Additional jewelry to roundoff my look: pearl ring set in yellow gold from my grandma and a string of pearls bracelet that was a gift from my cousin.

The Venue

We got married in my (bride) hometown on the farm where I grew up in the Free State - Viljoenskroon.

Guests stayed at Die Stoor, Bothaville.

My Captured Moments

Our special moments were captured by photographer Gitte Jones Photography and the videographer SHK Productions.

These two people were such a big part of making the capturing of moments more fun and comfortable. They are amazing with the guests and they captured the perfect moments just as we wanted.

The Reception and Entertainment

The reception took place in the field surrounded by grass fields and starry nights.

We did take part in dance lessons at John Murry Dance School in Somerset West. Our first dance was a waltz on Perfect Symphony by Ed Sheeran and Andrea Borcelli.

The sound and lighting done by No Beat-No Music Entertainment.
