Our wedding took place on 25 June 2022. It was an extremely cold day and it was raining and overcast for most of that morning. We were supposed to have our ceremony in a forest amongst the wild animals who roam freely. Because of the rain we had to move our ceremony to our plan B option which was the Plumari Heritage Museum. The museum itself boasts one of the largest private collections of ox wagons, carts and other animal drawn vehicles form the period 1800-1900. Our ceremony was a beautiful setting surrounded by history and warm fire going in the background to set a cosy and romantic atmosphere. A highlight for us during the ceremony was when we finally got as glimpse of each other. The tears started rolling and it was a rush of emotions. After our ceremony we had the opportunity to have our wedding pictures taken with two magnificent elephants. This was such an amazing opportunity to get so close and interact with these animals.
Unfortunately we did not have a honeymoon as we could not get time off from work.
I went for a soft romantic look with outdoor elements featured on my dress because our wedding was going to be outdoors in a forest. My makeup was natural glam. I went for an updo for my hair because I wanted to show the detail on the back of my dress. My Earrings and wedding ring were from Swarovski. My Lingerie was from Distraction. I chose to wear sneakers because i wanted to be comfortable and enjoy the day.
We got married at African Hills Safari lodge and Spa in Magaliesburg. A few guests stayed over, some guests stayed at their sister lodge called Warthogs Bush lodge and some guests stayed at the Mount Grace hotel.
I had a Dermaplan facial done two days before the wedding at Life day spa.
We wanted natural decor. The flowers consisted of a lot of greenery and succulents. Our wedding colours were a moody palette which consisted of Blue, green, black and red.
The groom wore a dark blue navy suit that almost looked black. the groomsmen wore black suits.
The bridesmaids wore black dresses.
Our photographer was Wynand van der Merwe. He was brilliant and really paid attention to detail. We made use of a photo booth that was supplied by our Dj who was Johan at Uplifting melodies.
We had a coordinator that works at the venue her name is Brenda.
The venue made the amazing food. The bride made the cakes.
We designed all the stationary ourselves.
We used uplifting melodies who supplied the lighting, music and photo booth.
