Magical Moments

We are so privilege that our Wedding Day was on Saturday 8 October 2022, my husband's birthday is 9 October and my birthday is 10 October. These dates will always be so special to us and every year we get to celebrate 3days in a row. The best advice from our photographer (@junerichardsphotography) was a first reveal. I will never forget the pure happiness and real smile of my husband when he first saw me, some tears followed. We had a coffee between the Olive Trees that Surval Boutique Olive Estate made really special for us. Our friendship evolved from having lunchtime coffees to a beautiful love story.

The Honeymoon

We had a mini-moon in our favorite Klein Karoo Town, De Rust. Where we spend 3 relaxing days at our favorite cottage, Pepper Tree, on the Middelplaas region, behind the small town with the biggest heart overlooking the majestic Swartberg Mountains.
Our Honeymoon is planned shortly after our 6 month anniversary where we like to experience hygge(feeling of happiness, coziness, being in the company of the person you love) in the happiest city in the world, Copenhagen.

My Special Day

I had such doubts on my perfect wedding dress, but when Danielle at Bridal Inn in George come in the dressing room with this frilly dress, I just knew that this dress will be mine. The lace top with long sleeves made me feel so pretty and the frilly skirt made me feel like a real princess. My pink vellies was from Bummel Leather Shoes in George, the best and most comfortable shoes ever (I own a few pairs). My engangement ring is a morganite (light pink) with diamond chips around it from Browns Jewellers and Browns made my wedding band to enhance my perfect engagement ring. My hairdresser and friend, Mariaan from @Hair in George did my hair and make-up and we had a lovely morning getting ready. My husband bought his lovely dark blue suit and shirt from Woolworths and rented his tie from Bridal Inn. We both like living a minimalistic lifestyle and although this was our big day we tried to keep it simple and that was the best decision ever. Everything was just perfect.

The Venue

We got married in the Klein Karoo at Surval Boutique Olive Estate, just outside Oudsthoorn, overlooking the Swartberg Mountains. We received the honeymoon suite complimentary with the venue hire and our family and friends also stayed at the venue. This made it possible to celebrate my husband's birthday the next morning around a big breakfast table. The venue and staff of Surval was absolutely brilliant and catered to our every need.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I am a plain Jane. I tried gel nails and that went terrible wrong so I just went with plain nail polish :) I also only did teeth cleaning at the Gentle Dental in George but nothing fancy. My husband and I jogged together but got covid together and the excersize routine disappeared a bit... however, when we had time over weekends between all the planning, we took long walks in the mountains or at the dam to experience nature and to reset.

Wedding Elements

We rented a lot of fairly lights just because we love it so much and that made the venue just sparkle. All decor and fairy lights were rented from Fancy Functions, we unfortunately had to collect and return ourselves as they were fully booked on our wedding day. Surval and especially Ashleigh did a perfect job in setting our table and putting up our fairy lights. We kept the table clear from clutter and had small flower vases on the table with single flowers and one big flower arrangement on the bride and groom table. Joan's Florist in Mosselbay did our flowers at the venue and although we had a very hot Karoo Day the flowers were beautiful.

Marriage Officer

Charlie Nunn, master of all trades, played the flute as I walked into the chapel and he was our 'DJ'.

My Captured Moments

Ah, June Richards Photography, June is an angel sent to us. We both are not very comfortable in front of a camera (I prefer taking photos), however June made us feel comfortable, excited and we are extremely happy with all our photos. June captured our true feelings and love for each other. I am almost at a lost for words because June was such a blessing, she gave us guidance, made a timeline for the day and everything just worked out perfectly. All I can say is thank you for having the best photographer and friend at our special day.

Food & Cake

All the catering was done by Surval Boutique Olive Estate and was excellent. We had finger snacks, fresh bread and olive tapenade from Surval while the guests waited and then had plated supper, lamb shank with mash and veggies and the best dark chocolate pepermint crisp dessert.
