Married on Mar 5, 2022 in Western Cape

Magical Moments

One of my highlights was getting to see the man I was going to marry waiting for me at the end of the aisle. Having all our friends and family there witnessing our love and sharing in our moment was another highlight. My husband's highlight was finally getting to say I do, starting our lives together and creating more memories with our family and friends.

The Honeymoon

Yes, we went to Tanagra wine cottage in McGegor for our mini-moon, it was only for two nights because we had to return to work. A few month's later we hopped on a plane to Turkey, this was thee most romantic time together. The honeymoon highlight was definitely the hot air balloons in Cappadocia. Turkey is a must see destination, it's vibrant and full of colour.

My Special Day

Our wedding palette was autumn and in Stellenbosch it's the most beautiful time of the year so we wanted to recreate that warmth. A family friend Lyne van Rensburg, did our flowers and decor, she absolutely knocked it out the park, turning our vision into a reality and bringing to life the warm and vibrant colour's. With the help of our family we executed the final details.

My dress was bought at La Belle Mariée Bridal Couture in Somerset west, outstanding service. I knew the moment I tried it on, nothing would come even close. This experience was shared with my mother, sister and Aunt and moment I will always cherish.

I had two pairs of shoes for the big day. I have always envisioned getting married in red shoes, also my dress had a gorgeous slit that showed them off. I let my trusty and comfy nude pink shoes take on the dance floor. A decsion I do not regret

The jewelry was borrowed to me by my sister, which has a lot of sentimental meaning. I wore her pearl necklace and arm bracelet she wore on her wedding. My husband gifted me stunning pearl earnings.

My veil was also borrowed to me by my sister, the same one she wore on her big day. My garter was my mother's and both my sister and I had the privilege of wearing it, also it was my something blue. I am a sucker for sentimental item's and love the idea of things being passed down in our family.

My hair and make up was done by the best in the business, Sophie Jean Beauty.

The Venue

We got married at the Nooitgedacht wine estate in Stellenbosch. The previous year we had a valentines day picnic and we fell in love with the venue. Lisa and her team were really go above and beyond and made sure our wedding was a success. The venue accommodated 8 of our guest's. One of the special moments was having breakfast the next day, in the courtyard with our family and reliving the amazing night.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I went to Laser lab in Stellenbosch for my facials and laser treatments. Ingrid who I adore, did my facials once a month, we started this regime about 6 months prior. Health and fitness wise, both my husband and I train at Crossfit Eikestad and just maintained that lifestyle throughout this period. My husband surprised my sister and I, the day before our wedding with some spoils at Majeka House, we had a full back massage and a champagne breakfast.

Wedding Elements

Most of our decor was rented, we made use of various companies. We used Muse concepts, for the candles, We hired brass holders from My Pretty vintage company to house some fruit that was used as decor. The candle holders and stands were from Sitting pretty in Stellenbosch. The earth coloured table cloths were from the Table cloth hire company in Stellenbosch. The sound and lights was taken care of by our DJ who calls himself John the Frank. He also performed live music at our canapes, which created such a calming ambience. Highly recommend all the above service providers.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

My husband bought his suit and shirt from Khaliques suits. They were extremely professional and knew exactly what they were doing. They did the alterations in store and had it ready within a few days. His shoes were from Kingsley Heath. The look for the groomsman was neutral and thus we opted for white shirts and plain brown chino 's. My husband and his groomsmen ties were handmade by my talented Aunt, Sonja van der Merwe.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

My bridesmaids were given a colour palette and could find any dress that suited their style and body types. My idea was wanting them to be comfortable, feeling beautiful and showcasing their uniqueness. My maid of honour's dress (my sister) as well as my mothers dress was made by the talented Lena Lisa.

Marriage Officer

Our loyal friend, Lional Hutton from the Dutch reformed church in Stellenbosch. We also did our pre marriage course with him.

My Captured Moments

We used Edó photography for our engagement and wedding photos. We were blown away by our photos, they managed to capture our day perfectly. Grootdors Production, was our wedding videographer, the sent us a shortened wedding video, perfect for social media which highlighted some special moments and then a longer video, which included our whole ceremony and most of our reception and all the speeches. We love our videos and photos and are so thankful that we were able to have both our photographer's and videographer's capturing our day.

The Wedding Planner

We asked our family friend Lyne van Zyl and she did an amazing job. Our whole family and bridal party helped out on the day of and created the most beautiful day for us.

Wedding Transport

We did not make use of any wedding transport as we stayed and got ready at the venue. Most of guest made use of private companies or Ubers.

Food & Cake

Our food was prepared by Nooitgedacht wine estate itself. We had a harvest table for the canapes. Dinner included the Nooitgedacht fillet steak, which was divine. Everybody raved about the food. Nooitgedacht obviously also had a vegetarian and chicken option. We LOVE ICE-CREAM and therefore for dessert, we had an ice cream bar. Being true to Afrikaans our midnight snack was "braai broodtjies". They could not have come at a better time. Dancing makes you hungry. #lifesaver. Our cake was made by Cake Patisserie studio, and as expected was delicious.

Wedding Stationery

We asked Paper & Paint to create our save the dates, seating chart, wedding website etc, which was done beautifully and incorporated the theme creatively. The designer asked us to prepare a mood board including our colour scheme and ideas. They then sent along two option's for us to choose from and send along any change's. From there our final decision was reached. We still felt very involved throughout.

The Reception and Entertainment

We used John the Frank for our music in the church, he also provided live music for the canapes and the music for the night. We had an absolute ball and even ended up paying for another hour of music.. Our reception focused on good food and music and I think we hit the nail on the head.
