How did your love story begin?

My fiance and I have known each other since primary school. Not really friends, but we knew one another. We went to different High Schools and re-met after i finished my studies and moved back to East London in 2013. He asked me out next to a fire in the Addo Elephant park on Christmas day 2013. We just clicked and our love just grew. We have been through rough waters, but we made it together! It is now over 5 years later and we can't wait for our wedding day in May 2019!!

Tell us all about the proposal.

We went on holiday in Tsitsikamma, December 2017, and on Christmas day (our 4 year anniversary of being together) Philip wanted to bungy so i went along. He proposed just before his jump with a cardboard reading "Sal jy met my trou Alana?" I had to say yes over a walky talky to him and then he jumped. The team walked me down to just before the bridge and Philip was there on his one knee with proteas and a ring box. It was so special!! Did not expect it at all. The whole restaurant was in tears with me. One of the best days of our lives so far! x

Magical Moments

Our wedding day was real. It was exactly what we dreamt of and perfect in every way. We had the perfect weather, perfect venue and I have the perfect partner. The whole day was special - from getting ready and spending time with my mom & sister, to going to the chapel and then the venue was all just PERFECT!

The Honeymoon

We did go on honeymoon. Instead of going out of SA, we decided to explore our beautiful country instead. We started with 2 nights camping at the Stormsriver Mouth SANS Park. From there we went up to the Karoo National Park for a night. After that we went up to Augrabies Falls National Park for 2 nights and spent 4 nights after that in the BEAUTIFUL Kgalagadi Lodge. It was AMAZING!

My Special Day

Our wedding was a country style wedding. Our hair & make-up was done by Bianca & Jess from Beautiful by Bea. My dress and my bridesmaid's dress was made by Fairytales. We got our shoes from Blu Betty SA and rocked the "vellie" look as we are down to earth. Our flower crowns were made by Carol from Hogsback and our stunning rose gold decor was from Amelda at Plan A

The Venue

We got married in Hogsback. Our ceremony was at the St Patricks Chapel and reception at The Edge Mountain Retreat. Our guests stayed over at The Edge.

Wedding Elements

Our decor and flower where beautiful. We had plain wooden tables with a lot of greenery and lime light proteas & succulants with a touch of rose gold decor & cuttlery.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

They wore short, beige chino's and the groom had a blazer from Markams. They both wore vellie's from Due South.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

My bridemaid wore an olive colour, off the shoulder dress. She looked beautiful! We had her dress made by Fairytales Design.

My Captured Moments

Marlene Jansen van Vuuren & Sven Larsen captured our special day. They are great photographers that make you feel comfortable and our photos are incredible!

The Wedding Planner

Yes we had Leigh Smith from Hogsback Country Weddings. She was great! It was all stress free

Wedding Transport

We used our own Toyota Fortuner D4D as transport - best car ever!

Food & Cake

The Edge Mountain Retreat served from their menu and the food was delish! Adam made our cake (carrot & vanilla with half naked icing and succulant)

Wedding Stationery

My dear sister has her own business called Freckle Face and she designed and printed for us

The Reception and Entertainment

We just winged our first dance & enjoyed it so much. It was in the moment. Our DJ was Justin Smith and he had all the lights and sound etc.
