Magical Moments

10 minutes before the start of our ceremony when my mother, mother-in-law and bridesmaids said good bye, I had a feeling of calmness coming over me. Then I knew, today I am making the best decision of my life by getting married with my best friend and partner in crime. The moment I saw my dad for the first time all dressed up I would never forget. Waiting to walk down the aisle with my dad was so memorable for me, the anticipation was indescribable.
And then, the moment every bride dreams about, where her future husband waits at the end of the aisle with tears in his eyes (after he said he is definitely not going to shed a tear)!
Another big moment was when we entered the reception as husband and wife while Kevin Leo introduced ourselves as Mr and Mrs Scherman.
Our first dance was also one of our most memorable moments of the evening where Kevin Leo sang ‘Jy’s Ongelooflik’ live – and wow, that man has a voice to make that moment a really memorable one!

The Honeymoon

We decided to be a bit traditional and went on honeymoon the day after the wedding with our flight being at 6am the next morning! The destination was a surprise for me until we reached the gate saying ‘Mauritius’. What made it even more special was the fact that it was our first vacation overseas on our own.

My Special Day

I’ve opt for a romantic, soft, elegant look with a touch of sexyness, and Cindy Bam made that a reality. She understood me precisely from our first meeting. And I can say, less is definitely more, especially when it comes to a wedding dress. I knew Efraine van Heerden from Evelyn Francis was stunning in what she does and gave her carte blanche to compliment my romantic, elegant look. I had a loose, curly upstyle so that my backless dress can be shown off. My shoes was from Forever New which brought the bling aspect to my look. Being in a wedding dress, lingerie is actually redundant because the dress is cut to fit your body 100%, therefore just a pantie was necessary. My jewellery and accessories only existed of rose gold earings and of course my stunning rose gold engagement and wedding ring.

The Venue

We got married at Groenrivier Function Centre in Riebeek-Wes and because 50% of our guests were from Gauteng the majority stayed in Riebeek-Wes and Riebeek-Kasteel.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

The day I got engaged I made my first facial appointment and from there once every month leading up to our wedding day. I also went for a facial peel to get rid of all dead cells. I also carried on with my own facial regime at home comprising of cleansing, toning, moisturising and most important, adding sunscreen to my daily routine. My mom, my sister and I started following our own ‘at home’ fitness program.
2 Days before the wedding we went for a spa day just to treat ourselves and to try calm the nerves.

Wedding Elements

The overall look and feel reflected an organic ambience of rustic and natural elements, contrasted against an elegant and slightly more modern decor and flower installations. The colour scheme reflected neutral shades of white and green, a touch of blush with navy and rose gold detail in the accessories. A pop of colour where added by a deeper pink.
The pre-drinks area reflected a relaxing setting with a combination of cocktail tables and chairs, lounge pockets, scatter cushions, white plinths, flowers and fairy lights.
The dinner setup had a romantic atmosphere through soft lighting and lots of candle light. Colour scheme – neutral shades of wood, white, green and a touch of blush/muted pink. Detail in rose gold and navy were incorporated sporadically. Rectangular palette tables with linen runners and white tiffany chairs. The ceiling reflected beautiful fairy light curtains suspended above each dining table with naked bulps above bridal table.
Each table reflected an abundance of soft candle light, soft flowing floral arrangements consisting of open roses and greenery.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

The groomsmen were dressed in navy blazers and white shirts with khaki pants, dark brown shoes and navy bowties. We’ve added ‘happy socks’ in different colours as a fun element as well as personalised briefs. The groom stood out with navy pants and a navy tie. Their suits were taylor made by ‘Your Pal’ in Brooklyn Mall.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

I wanted something different for my bridesmaids than the usual and dressed them in blush colour crop tops with matching tulle skirts and nude shoes. Their outfits were from Hoiden Bridesmaids.

Marriage Officer

Our marriage officer was Ds Why Duvenhage from our family church.

My Captured Moments

Our photographer was Michelle du Toit from Michelle DT Photography and videographer was Kobus Pretorius from Red Beard Productions. They are an amazing team that is obsessed with natural light and all the natural moments between a groom and his bride.

The Wedding Planner

Anneke Roux from AnnaH Styling helped me to bring all of my ideas to life. She also coordinated our wedding on the day and I received so many compliments on how well our wedding was planned.

Wedding Transport

Our guests were responsible for their own transport to and from the venue.

Food & Cake

One of the reasons for choosing Groenrivier as our wedding venue was because of the catering team who operates there. The amazing team from Malita Joubert Catering was responsible for our outstanding food. Our wedding cake was made by Maggi from Edible Art Cakes.

Wedding Stationery

Our stationary were designed and printed by Blooming Wonderful.

The Reception and Entertainment

We had a hell of a party and that was exactly what we wanted. The dancefloor was not for one moment empty and by this you know your guests are enjoying themselves. We’ve booked our DJ through DJ Dirkie who does all his double bookings and he definitely knows how to throw a party. Kevin Leo was our MC and he also sang a few songs requested by us. I must say Kevin knows his story!
We went for a few dance lessons so that our first dance could be exstra special.
