The whole day was magical, from my dad walking me down the aisle, to hearing the personal vows that my hubby had written for me, to dancing the night away with those that are our nearest and dearest!
However, there is one moment that truly meant the world to me! You see it was scheduled to rain later that night, but the storm pulled in just hours before the ceremony. Which was supposed to be under a beautiful Bedouin tent overlooking the ocean. Blue Horizon managed to make an alternative inside set up which still overlooked the ocean as they knew this meant the world to both of us. When we said our vows there was the most beautiful rainbow resting on the sea behind us, you see the year 2018 really had started off on an incredibly devastating year for me, my Nan(grandmother) who was my rock and one of my best friends passed away just 8 months before my big day. I could not wait to take her dress shopping with me and tell her about all the arrangements, but unfortunately, she was taken away from me too soon. When I saw that rainbow I knew she was with us and looking over us and giving us her blessing.
That was the moment that I will remember for the rest of my life.
On the 26th of August, the day after our wedding was spent with family opening all our amazing gifts from those that we love. On the 27th of August our little 7-day road trip began, we headed from our beautiful home in Cape Town up the Garden Route, our first stop was to Botlierskop a Nature Reserve in Mossel Bay, we splashed out and I went on my first ever game drive. We ventured further up the Garden Route and stayed in some out of this world places, like Trogon house and spa and Packwood wine and dairy farm. Every place that we stayed we were totally spoilt and we still talk about all the stunning places that are right at our doorstep.
My wedding look was elegant yet rustic. I had my hair done by my long-standing hair stylist Francis White he did an amazing job, we decided to curl my hair and sweep it to the side and placed some beautiful hair pieces that I had borrowed from my mother.
My make up was natural and elegant my make-up artist is also my longest standing friend and Bridesmaid, Leigh-Ann Knight.
My shoes...well my shoes were the highlight of my outfit, I had these imported from the most amazing little boutique in America, Jen and Kenra's. I absolutely had to have cowgirl boots for my wedding and these Corral Boots were a must have! Jen was an absolute sweetheart and went above and beyond to ensure I had them in time for the wedding.
Lastly, I purchased my wedding dress from Bride and Co in Canal Walk.
We got married at Blue Horizon Estate, on the top of Red Hill, what amazing views even despite the storm. Tracey-Lee and her team really made our vision become a reality despite all the odds that were stacked against us on the day.
Blue Horizon, organised and arranged all our decor and flowers. Because we had a winter wedding we chose the colours, coral, orange, white and gold to create a warm and romantic setting. My hubby has also ALWAY bought me orange roses.
As mentioned previously we had to move our wedding inside due to the Cape Town Storm.
My self and my hubby made personalised cork wine glass charms for the guests, for the seating arrangements (my maiden name is Corke) These we had laser cut by a local company called Tribe laser.
My gorgeous Groom got his suit custom made by iTailor. It was a classic black suit with beautiful filigree on the inside of the suit jacket. He wore a white shirt with a coral tie to match the bridesmaids. The groom and groomsman also wore superhero cufflinks.
My bridesmaids wore a stunning coral and rose gold dress made by a local dressmaker Sue, she was incredible and really ensured that the ladies felt their best and comfortable in their dresses. They were gifted furs from Truworths and rose gold bracelets from forever new.
Our Marriage officer was Matthew Mills, he was absolutely amazing from the moment we met him we felt comfortable. He shared a beautiful message with us on the day and encouraged us to write our own vows, which we were both nervous for but so happy we did it, it made the day so much more meaningful.
My photographer was amazing! She went the extra mile and was with us from 10 am until the end of the night. She even bought along some props for a photo booth, which all the guests had so much fun with. She really captured the mood of the wedding.
My dad surprised us and booked a 1936 Chev limo, the boys got picked up and dropped at the venue and my dad hopped in to collect us girls. It was storming in Cape Town so we didn't manage to do any posed photos outside or with the car, but the ride was still something to remember.
Our wedding cake was personalised batman/traditional cake made by Whipped in Westlake. The cakes was three tiers, Chocolate, Red Velvet and vanilla. We served this as dessert with an Ice Cream Station.
My amazing mother made individual mini wedding fruit cakes as our wedding favours, her fruit cake is soaked in various alcohol for 12 months, we have saved one of these little cakes for our first wedding anniversary.
Our food was made in house by Blue Horizon,
Canapes were an assortment of Salmon and cream cheese crackers, Cocktail vegetable sprint rolls, Cocktail beef Skewers and Mushroom phyllo pockets. Served with Sherry and Glühwein to warm the hearts of our guests.
Mains was a classic buffet, slow roasted beef served with fragrant red wine gravy, spinach and danish feat filled chicken breasts florentine, wrapped in bacon in a Malay curry, Greek Salad, cauliflower in cheese sauce, orange glazed carrots and roasted garlic potatoes.
Dessert as mentions above was our stunning cake with a self-service ice cream station.
We had a local band play at our wedding, they have been part of our lives for many years and make every event that they play at an absolute party for all ages. They are a cover band who know how to rock. Our wedding day would have been incomplete without them.
