Being together for almost 8 years and having the day finally arrive was surreal. My husband is usually very calm and not very punctual. However when I woke up on our wedding day, I received a long message from him assuring me what he always has for the last 8 years..
Having a talk with my dad in where he imparted some life lessons. We joked and shared a few tears too.
The entire day was a highlight however there are moments that bring a smile to my face at random moments. Driving to our wedding venue early that morning with my bridal party all in tracks. My husband asked them to notify him when we arrived so he wouldn't see me. Our vehicles hooted for a Kilometre leading to the venue. Needless to say, he had ample warning. Our first kiss in which we were announced using our nicknames was also a highlight. Our first dance was also super special. The entire day was perfect. Not many brides enjoy their wedding however I wish I could get married every year :)
We left for our honeymoon the day after the wedding.
We went to Mauritius and stayed at The Long Beach Resort.
We opted for an island to unwind and wanted something not requiring too long of a flight.
We spent our time there indulging in cocktails and mouth watering food too perfect to eat.
I wanted a traditional wedding with a touch of old school glam.
I feel in love with the first dress I saw and tried on, it's a princess ballroom gown and I had a 6m veil. My tiara was made out of Swarovski crystals and made me really feel like a queen.
My hair and make up was done by makeupbymanisha. I went for a flawless look without looking over done. My hair was very long so no extensions needed.
My shoes were comfortable and had quite a sparkle with a medium heel.
My jewellery was a mix of simple pieces. I was gifted a tennis bracelet by my parents. I wore diamond earrings that were gifted by my husband from Browns. My band was also from Browns.
I wore a new scent on the day - Daisy by Marc Jacobs. To this day if I wear it, it takes me back to that day.
We got married at L'Aquila Country Estate in Pretoria East. It mimics the most beautiful place on earth besides SA being Italy. This venue is a few kilometers from my parents. With my guests mainly being from Gauteng, it was'nt a problem.
A handful of our guests stayed at the venue and surrounding accommodation.
My beauty regime was quite natural. Facials were done on a regular basis at my local therapist.
Health- I drank a lot of green tea and worked out when I could. I ate as per normal but cut back on snacking.
Our colours were blush, gold and green.
Our flowers and decor was done by Cafe Fleur.
This included stage, draping, flowers and linen.
I opted for various flowers with my favourites being roses and orchids. I also requested anemones that were extremely difficult to source but they ensured I had it.
Our table decor was soft colours with different textures. We went for oyster cloths and rose gold centre pieces in sequence and soft with floating candles and roses bunched together.

The groom wore a tailored full black tuxedo by a tailor in Hyde Park.
Groomsmen had suits from Eurosuit ( Rivonia).
My bridesmaid wore different textures of blush. They all have their own tastes and body shape. I had them pick their own dress.
Peter Dinkleman. His retired now and does a wedding occasionally. Seeing as I grew up under his ministry, it was fitting that he officiate my day.
Photographer- Urvesh Rama Photography
