Magical Moments

It was on June 2 the only day in the week when Cape Town finally got some rain. We were all stressed about the couple photos. Luckily while we were taking our photos the sun came out for that hour and we know have the most beautiful photos. I remember the moment my husband and I walked in to the reception and everyone clapping hands. We felt so loved being surrounded by so many of our family and friends that traveled from around South Africa to be there.

The Honeymoon

Yes, We initially wanted to save up after the wedding to go have a proper summer island honeymoon in December, but our family was adamant we go away sooner, so we booked a place in Robertson-The orange Grove Farm for a couple of days. It was so beautiful and the staff so friendly. We will definitely be going back.

My Special Day

I think my wedding look was simple elegant. My mom and I were in Durban looking for material to make my wedding dress when we found a Jasmines wedding boutique on the way. My mom said imagine we find your dress in here. I didn't believe her. I tried on so many dresses I was getting very negative. The last dress came and when I saw the material I thought this doesn't look too bad. I put it on and I knew I found it.

I went for a natural wedding look. My make up and hair was done by the very talented Lynette Loubser pro makeup &hair. She is so friendly and easy to talk to.

The Venue

We got married at Cassia. It's in Durbanville, Western Cape.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

In January I started drinking more water and washing my face twice a day. My face started to show a difference, but with all the wedding stress it was moving at a very slow pace. Two months before the wedding I went to Elemental health & beauty in Melkbosstrand, where I went for facials every two weeks. My face cleared up just in time for the wedding.

Wedding Elements

I am blessed with a very talented and loving mother. She did all the flowers and even did my bouquet. We really wanted a floral wedding and she made everything possible. We bought the material and Stefan's grandmother cut it and made the serviettes. My moms boyfriend and my brother-in-Laws made the wooden crates with the lightbulbs. It was incredible how all our family jumped in to help.

The glass wooden tables and bridal chairs we got from Enchanting Event & Wedding Furniture Hire
The candle sticks and welcome board from To-Nett's Hiring
Glass under plates and candles form Eventworx.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

My husband Stefan wore a navy blue suit from Markham and a floral tie and brown crossbands from Twill.
The groomsmen followed the style except for wore a grey trousers with floral ties and brown crossbands.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

I really found it difficult to choose the bridesmaids dresses. I wanted to get them something they would want to wear again. They each have different styles and personalities. I found these navy blue dresses at Truworths. It was elegant and I'm sure they will find a place to wear it again. The Floral jackets my sisters found a day before. It fit so perfect with the theme of the wedding I would choose it all over again.

My Captured Moments

Once again family was involved. Stefan's cousin is a very talented wedding photographer. She and her husband are the owners of Until Dust wedding photographers. They were incredible and our obvious first choice.

The videographer is a very good friend of mine from AFDA. Jaco van Bosch, is a very talented filmmaker and made our video as a wedding gift.

We also had a photo booth which was a very successful part of the entertainment of the night. We used The Picture Booth- They were so friendly and weren't scared of the swarm of people surrounding them.

Wedding Transport

I felt it a unnecessary cost to hire wedding transport, because no one would see it. My bridesmaid and I used my mom's white BMW. It was a funny experience because on our way to the ceremony, with all the running around, my sisters forgot to full up the tank so we had to stop for petrol first. Everyone at the station was honking and clapping. It's definitely a moment I will never forget.

Food & Cake

The venue gave us menus to choose from. We had a harvest table and old brown sherry for the cocktail hour and a spitsbraai buffet for dinner.

The cake choosing was also a funny story. My favorite cake is carrot cake. Stefan's is cheese cake. We were arguing which to go for and at the end we found a place that combined the two. It was perfect, It was us. The place is called boeresjiek. There was no cake left at the reception.

Wedding Stationery

I designed all the stationery. We went for the navy blue and dusty pink and floral look, that made everything come together.
