Magical Moments

We got married on the beach up the West Coast on possibly the most perfect day of the year in terms of weather. It was such a happy day and a really intimate wedding. We only had 80 guests and everyone there were people that are exceptionally close to us so there was such a beautiful and tangible feeling of love in the air. My husband has two children and I have one so to get married with our kids beside us was just beyond special. Getting ready before the wedding with my 17 year old daughter who was my Maid of Honour, my best friend who was my Best Maid and my beautiful Mom was definitely one of the highlights of the day and then the absolute pinnacle of the entire day was walking down the aisle holding my mom's hand and seeing my gorgeous groom waiting for me with tears running down his face. It was the happiest moment of my life. I waited 45 years for this moment and thought it would never come !

The Honeymoon

We spent 7 glorious days at Mudlark River Lodge on the Brede River near Cape Infanta and then two spectacular nights at the very luxurious Schoone Oordt Country House in Swellendam. We ended off the Honeymoon with a night in Stanford.

My Special Day

I was not a young bride so I needed to be mindful of that and not try and look younger than I am. However it was my first and only wedding so I still wanted to look and feel like a bride and get to enjoy all the things that brides should. I designed my own dress and had a superb dress maker make it for me. Her name is Brigitte and she is based in Sandton Johannesburg. It was a lace halter neck bodice and a soft flowing skirt in silk chiffon. I wore dark green heels and carried thru the green with emerald statement earrings. My make up was soft and my hair was just soft blonde curls. I wore a veil with chantilly lace detail for the ceremony only and took it off immediately after we said I do.
My beautiful lacey knickers were from Edgars lingerie department and my garter was from http://andsomethingpretty.co.za/

My hair and make up was done by Candice Harker of Mobile Make Up Artist. http://www.mobilemakeupartist.co.za/blog

The Venue

We got married at Boesmanland Farm Kitchen in Langebaan, West Coast. http://boesmanlandfarmkitchen.com/
The venue was on the beach so we got married with the most spectacular views and a sunset that was magical.

The venue itself does not have accommodation but ALL of our guests stayed over in Langebaan at various hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, etc. Most people stayed 2 nights.

My gorgeous Groom and I spent our wedding night at the same place where I got ready for the wedding. We booked the Honeymoon Suite at Crystal Lagoon Lodge www.crystallagoonlodge.co.za. It is right on the water in Langebaan and has the most beautiful views. Highly recommended!

My Bridal Beauty Regime

Like most brides I think, I was on a strict eating and exercise program for months before the wedding. I lost quite a bit of weight and toned up nicely for the Big Day. I focused my exercises mostly on my arms/shoulders/back purely because of the style of my dress and then also my tummy.
I had a few facials in the months leading up to the wedding at my go-to favourite Sorbet Salon https://www.sorbet.co.za
2 days before the big day I had waxing and my nails done at Sorbet. I wore a soft nude colour nail.
I had a spraytan done at Yemaya in Sea Point 2 days before the wedding https://www.yemaya.co.za
My make up and hair artist was the fantastic Candice Harker from Mobile MakeUp Artists. She did my mom and my bridal party too.

For months leading up to the Wedding I was regularly having my hair coloured so we could get the colour just right for the big day. This was done by my wonderful hairdresser Shanna at Jeauval in Bryanston http://www.jeauval.com/

Wedding Elements

I wanted to go with an "elegant rustic" theme. Not too elegant and not too rustic. The Venue itself is very rustic and I wanted to stay true to its essense. I also wanted neutral understated colours with lots of greenery.
My table decor was beige and white striped tablecloths and the centrepieces were just made of greenery and gyp with lots of candles. There was a lot of greenery and gyp throughout all the elements of the decor. The gazebo we got married under had a full arch of greenery and white flowers and down both sides of the aisle we had the most beautiful standing hearts which were covered in greenery (hard to explain, see pic). I didn't need much decor outside because the beautiful ocean views took care of the scenery for me.
Inside the venue it is very rustic and its a beautiful venue so it needed very little decor. We had fairy lights everywhere and the entire ceiling was draped in fairy lights and white lanterns.
My florist was Ronel from Ronel’s Bloemiste info@ronelsbloemiste.co.za and most of my decor and hiring was from Anthea at Be-Dazzled Party & Decor Hiring http://be-dazzled.co.za. Both these suppliers are based in Vredenburg up the West Coast.

I also hired white Tiffany chairs and other furniture from Jack n Jill Hiring http://www.jnjhire.co.za and some lovely little decor elements from Happy Tree Designs http://www.happytree.co.za/

The beauty of the fundamental nature of a rustic wedding is that simple touches with a lot of personality can speak volumes.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

Groom and Groomsmen looked very handsome in Navy suits with white shirts.
They hired their suits from Mr Suit Hire in Steenberg Cape Town

Beautiful Bridesmaids

My Maid of Honour and my Best Maid wore beautiful mint green strapless long flowing gowns which we got from Bride & Co https://brideandco.co.za. They looked so magnificient and the dresses were perfect for a dreamy beach wedding.

They wore rose gold strappy heels from Zando https://www.zando.co.za/

Marriage Officer

The religious part of the ceremony was done by our dear friend, Pastor Clint Perring and the official/legal side was managed by marriage officer, Kieran Mcclean.

My Captured Moments

I get beyond excited when I talk about our photographer because he is possibly the nicest man I have ever met second to my husband.
We used the incredibly talented Warren Williams to capture our day http://www.warrenwilliams.co.za/1-5-featured-weddings/stuart-and-jacqui-boesmanland-langebaan

We had a videographer too and that was Lance from RTM Video Productions Relive The Moment Forever

No photo booth.

The Wedding Planner

The venue comes with a co-ordinator to assist with certain aspects of the day, but I was the wedding planner.

Wedding Transport

My hotel where I got ready was a 2 minute drive from the venue so it seemed silly to go big on the transport. I wanted the oldest male in my family, my cousin, to drive me to the venue because I dont have a dad and so we used his car which was a Land Rover Discovery. We had the traditional ribbons on the front.

Food & Cake

The delicious food was supplied by the venue - Boesmanland Farm Kitchen.

Our cake was simple but beautiful and was made by Douwlein Leach from D-Litefull Cakes
http://www.d-litefullcakes.co.za/

Wedding Stationery

I used the incredibly talented Elizabeth Le Roux. She designed our very funky Save the Dates which Im obsessed with, our wedding invitations, our programs and our menus. She really is fantastic.
www.busylizzycreations.co.za

I did our place cards, table seating, ceremony reserved signs and our website.

The Reception and Entertainment

We used DJ Dean - they did all our sound and lighting and supplied our DJ. The actual DJ was Riaan Groenewald. He was beyond amazing!!! He kept that dance floor packed all night. There is something to be said about an older bridal couple...the guests are therefore older too and so 80's music ruled the night!!!! :)
