Every moment of our most special day was magical and memorable. We had a very intimate wedding with only 25 guests. Having all our closest family and friends share our big day was the best decision we made. Nothing felt forced or fake and no family drama! The day went by so fast it was hard to focus and enjoy every moment. My highlights were getting ready with my bride squad, walking down the aisle and my husbands speech. The special moments I shared with the most important people in my life will never be forgotten or replaced. It truly was the most perfect day!
We were incredibly blessed to have our Honeymoon in Zanzibar. We went for 7 nights and stayed at Azanzi Beach Hotel. Most of our Honeymoon was spent on the beach drinking cocktails or exploring the reefs and snorkeling. It was our dream holiday!
I went for a classic bridal look, my hair was curled and pinned up and a romantic updo with a few tendrils framing my face. My bridal makeup was mostly nudes, beige and shades of brown to highlight my blue eyes. My Wedding dress was exactly what I had always dreamed of. Custom made by Natalia Trisolino in Cape Town. It's a off white colour mermaid shape with a cathedral length train. A soft lace base with hand cut and beaded lace placed on top. My favourite element of my dress was definitely the illusion lace back which made me feel like a movie star. My shoes were simple and comfortable silver stilettos that gave me that much needed height! My jewelry was quite simple with tear drop diamante earrings and a simple diamante bracelet. My necklace was a last minute add, a family heirloom from mother that was given to me on the day in a flood of tears, Its a cross with 6 semi precious stones each a different colour. My mom gave a letter to accompany the necklace explaining how each stone represents a different aspect of marriage and to remind me the importance of each. It was a very emotional gift. I also had a cathedral length veil which finalized my bridal look.
We got married at Casa Mia Country Estate in Cullinan Pretoria. We had only moved to Johannesburg from Cape Town a year prior to the wedding and fell in love with Cullinan at first sight. Casa Mia was the first and only venue we viewed and I knew the minute I saw it that it was exactly where I wanted to have our most special day. We had an outdoor ceremony in their stunning green garden which almost didn't happen due it only stopping raining an hour before the ceremony. Our reception was in the chapel as we had a very intimate wedding with only 25 guests. Most of our guests stayed at Casa Mia for the wedding weekend.
I was on a strict health and fitness regime leading up to our big day. Weekly facials to make sure my skin was at it's best and hair treatments to make sure my hair shone on the day. I also followed a low carb diet and exercised daily to make sure my body was in peak condition. In the week prior I also had a manicure and pedicure, lash extensions and a spray tan.
Our entire wedding theme was around specific flowers we wanted. Blue and Purple Dendrobium Orchids are the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen. We battled to find them, looked all over the country with no luck, most flower shops had never even heard of them. I found them by luck after attending an event in Bloem where they were used. We incorporated the flowers into everything we could. They were the centerpieces on the tables, in the lanterns down the aisle , on top of the cake, the bridal bouquets and the groomsmen buttonholes. Our colour scheme even was decided on based on the flowers. Dark Purple and Royal Blue was our colour scheme for the day with silver and white worked in. For our garden ceremony we had a white carpet, white Wimbledon chairs, a white gazebo and white podiums. We had a flower arch at the entrance and lanterns with flowers in on each podium. For our receptions we had white table clothes, with clear Tiffany chairs and silver runners. The centerpieces consisted of a large vase with the orchids in, a Candelabra and small square vases with roses. Our table numbers were framed pictures of our furbabies with a chalk board around their necks with the table number draw on.
My Bridesmaids looked absolutely stunning on the day! They both wore infinity dresses in different ways. One was Royal blue and the other purple. They both wore Silver heels and accessories. Each one had their own unique styles which worked really well. They both had rose and orchid bouquets.
Our Photographer Shalane Mare was absolutely amazing! She was so easy to work with and really made us feel comfortable. She managed to capture the special bond between us and the magical experience of the day. A lot of brides told me not to skimp on the photographer and I'm glad we didn't! Strongly recommend Shalane to any bride to be!
