Magical Moments

A day so beautiful and magical, God was showing off. My dress was the show stopper. When I first saw it at Vanilla Boutique Centurion, I knew it was the one. And this wrote off all the little plans we had around our "Getting Married" saga because we were supposed to just go have the ceremony officiated at church, with only 15 witnesses max and boy did it change to a full on event that suddenly needed planning. And this was all done under 5 weeks!

We called it the "Wedding Braai" as we wanted it to be a small intimate gathering but we ended up with 120 guests. We wrote our own script and themed it "Converse with a touch of Africa" and set the date for the 9th of August. Women's Day. How befitting. We went the unconventional route and held everything at our home, had no specific number of bridesmaids and winged most of the things. I did the styling and decor using gold, black and white with a sunflower finish.

My Special Day

My wedding look was contemporary but not confined. My dress was beautifully bedazzled for the buttress and the bottom was chick tutu layers. My hair was done mohawk style with a side flow. My make up was natural with a bit of glitter around the eyes. My jewellery was minimal as the dress spoke volumes, just a bracelet and long drop earrings.

I was gorgeous.

The Venue

Got married at my house. What better venue than where we stay. Our yard could accommodate it all.

Wedding Elements

My uncle serviced me with all the equipment required... from marquee, to chairs and plates.

The decor included gold and white hanging balls. The walls were styled with posters of myself and husband that were written scriptures on them. The table overlays were striped black and white. The centerpieces were made of sunflower and so was our main table setting.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

I made it simple for myself. Asked my sisters and all my girl cousins to be bridesmaids. They wore branded t-shirts that were designed and worded "Bridesmaid". They wore these with black tutu skirts and finished the looks off with Converse sneakers and beaded accessories. I also wore similarly for the second part of the wedding.

Marriage Officer

Our marriage officer was Pastor Myoli from our church, Hope Restoration Ministries

My Captured Moments

Our friend, Masite captured moments of the day. We later went for a studio shoot just to have pictures with clean backgrounds.

The Wedding Planner

My colleague Dikwetje, who was at the time busy with a project management course, used me as a case study and assisted me greatly in putting things into perspective and made me list and tick off things.

Food & Cake

My sister did all the catering and my mother made the cake. All tasty and good looking.

Wedding Stationery

I am graphic designer. I did everything myself. From invites, to programs, to posters!
