Definitely spending my special day with my friends and family. I don't think there is anything better than to be surrounded by people who love and care for you on such an important day. That happiness and feeling of security is indescribable. There were so many memorable moments, from my husband tying the sacred thread (thali), to us cutting our beautiful cake, and finally saying our goodbyes and leaving for our honeymoon !
We opted for a simple honeymoon, so we flew to Cape Town and spent an amazing 7 nights at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in the upper East Side. We had a wonderful loft apartment and enjoyed every moment!
I decided to something totally different from a traditional tamil bride. I had a low bun, with a few pink roses. My jewellery was silver, and I had a choker, matching earrings and a headpiece. I also had bangles on each hand which matched my sari. My hair and make up was done by the amazing Neil Ramautar and his team. My sari was a traditional pink kanjiveram sari with silver stone work and gold beads. I wore silver wedges to match.
I got married at the MTSS Hall in Merebank, Durban, KZN.
I had deep cleansing facials every month, and a brightening facial before the week of my wedding. Always kept hydrated by drinking lots of water. I didn't do anything different, so I just kept to my regular diet and exercise regime. I also visited the dentist for a normal clean.
The decor was provided by the venue. Our colours were red and gold, center pieces were statues and vases with flower balls. We also made use of brass pots, plastic flowers, round tables and simple crockery and cutlery.
My husband wore a navy pinstripe classic Italian suit from Fratelli in Durban. All the men from our families decided to match the groom and they all opted to wear a navy suit. Suits were purchased from Fratelli, Zara Man and Woolworths.
Due to my Hindu wedding, we did not have any bridesmaids.
Our marriage officer was Guru Muthu Pillay, the officiating priest at our wedding.
The multi talented and my absolute favourite, Carmen Roberts was our photographer. We chose not to have videography.
Nope. Everything was planned by myself, my husband and our wonderful families :)
The MTSS Hall prepared the food at our wedding and Enchanting- by Sadiyah made my wonderful wedding cake.
Ganasen Press made the wedding invitations. We did not have any other stationery.
A very different approach, we did not have a party, due to time constraints, as I had an evening wedding and there were other traditional rituals that had to be completed after the wedding. We did however, have two awesome farewells organised by each of our families.
