After a fun filled weekend, having been surprised with a beautiful kitchen tea and bachelorettes, I realised exactly how powerful a supportive group of women can be. As women in today's society are constantly comparing themselves to one another, tearing each other down - (and by being in the beauty industry I see this everyday), to realise that there are women suppporting you and your decisions and having your best interests at heart, is very comforting. And also very empowering. With a great support base the troubles that may lie ahead will be much easier to face. And personally that is why it is important to have your closest friends and family at your wedding, because not only are you and your hubby taking vows, but your friends and family also vow to help protect and spare your marriage wherever possible.
The black and white photograph, with white R.I.P writing and dates ranging from my husband's birth date to his wedding date was definately a memorable moment. The story behind it is even better. As the best man went to fetch the canvas he had printed, the lady behind the counter expressed her condolences and commented on the fact the he was still so young.
Another memorable moment was holding my father's hand as the horse carriage drove us to the venue and to release some stress cracked a joke and said that this was my last chance to tell him if we should turn around.
I am sure many can relate to the feeling of being a tourist in your own country, so we decided to take a road trip down to the beautiful Western Cape. As we did not book anything in advance, mobile apps such as Booking.com was our go-to app in booking our accomodation.
As a hairstylist in the Gary Rom Hairdressing group, I was in very capable hands from the moment my co-workers found out i was engaged. Having many talented photographers in our family, they can without a doubt confirm that they are very seldomly invited to special occasions without having to bring their cameras along. However, on our big day we wanted our family to share in the joy of our day as guests and asked for their professional recomendations as they know the industry well. That is how we came to know Wayne Viljoen, who is responsible for all our beautiful photos.
To create some fun for our guests while we took some photos, we set up a polaroid camera next to our guest book so that our guests could each attach a photo next to their personal message.
As my husband and i both have two left feet, we decided it's best to take on some dancing lessons before the big day. As we were doing some online research, we came across a package that includes a choreographed first dance on your prefered song choice. As there are so many wedding arangements that divide your attention , Cerok Dance took all the stress away from our first dance and ensured spending some fun quality time together before the wedding.
