The moment I saw Willem for the first time in the isle, he started crying and so did I. We will cherish that moment forever! My father also married us, it was so special to share such a memorable day with him and we will never forget the beautiful words of the ceremony. Our first dance was also lots of fun and without a lot of practice, he dropped me when he needed to :) Our photographers and Videographer was also amazing, we loved every minute of our photoshoot.
We went to Zanzibar for the first week. There we quickly learned that we did not have to worry about anything - as they say: Hakuna Matata! We soaked up the sun, had way to much cocktails and called each other husband and wife the whole time as it just did not sink in that we are actually married now! My husband made friends with the bar tenders, he is such a likable guy! They even started making us our own unique cocktail! The Safari Blue was the best day ever. Would recommend it to anyone! The second week, we spend in Grootbrak, just outside of Mosselbay. Here we could braai and prepare our favourite meals together. We spoiled ourselves with a spa day at Views Spa Boutique Hotel in Wilderness and enjoyed some beach days!
The style I was going for is quite unique. I wanted my dress to be comfortable, but it still had to look and feel like a wedding dress. We also had an outside wedding, with a forest theme and I wanted a soft feel to blend in with nature. My wedding dress designer, Jacqueline, understood exactly what I wanted and she made my dream wedding dress. I would recommend her to anyone, Jacqueline's Bridal Couture. The colour (wedding blush) and chiffon worked perfectly with what I had in mind. I wanted a soft vintage style for my hair and I left my makeup in the capable hands of my Makeup Artist, Mikhara Ford, she was absolutely amazing! My hair was done by my cousin, Sonisca Maree.
I gym with Curves and absolutely love it! I am also a registered dietician, so following a healthy lifestyle is just part of my job. I usually make use of facial masks as part of my weekly facial routine, but a few weeks before the wedding I wore a facial mask every second night.
We had rose gold cutlery and other decor, white bunnies and moss with cedar leaves in-between as runners on wooden tables. We also had lost of fairy lights and candles. The ceremony and reception was outside between the trees and added to the forest theme. Our colour scheme was rose gold, burgundy with a touch of navy.
Willem wore a navy suite with a burgundy tie from Woolworths and his groomsmen wore chinos with navy waistcoats. They all wore light brown shoes.
They had burgundy dresses from a small unknown shop and looked beautiful in it!
We had the privilege to be married by my father, Nico de Klerk.
Our photographer, Lilly Leigh Photography, was just amazing! We received so many sneak peaks during our honeymoon and received all our photos after two and a half weeks after our wedding. We are so blessed to have chosen the best photographer ever!! Our Videographer was Sheldeen from She Saw Productions. I received an email from her just after the honeymoon saying that our footage looks amazing, we cannot wait to receive the video from her.
No, we did not, but luckily our families jumped in to help out!
My father picked us up form the venue we slept at the night before the wedding. The wedding car was not a big thing for us.
The company I am working for, Reef Caterers, made our food and it was amazing as always! My cousin, Leon Cronje, also a chef, made my wedding cake and it was exactly what I wanted!! Not a crumb was left of the three layer cake...
My sister, Sunica de Klerk, an interior architect, designed our stationary, she can turn anything she touches into gold! We printed at Wet Inc Menlopark.
No, we practiced a bit on our own, luckily Willem is a good dancer! Our DJ was BLD Events - Roolie Vorster. He was absolutely amazing! We had a Trio at our ceremony, our good friend Nicola Johannes on the Cello and two other ladies violins played beautifully!
