There were many memorable moments, but some of the highlights of my day was walking down the aisle with my mom and seeing all the familiar faces of close family and friends and of course my handsome hubby waiting for me on the other side! I also loved it when my hubby sang me a song during his speech while his friend played the guitar (Grow Old with You by Adam Sandler). I also really enjoyed dancing to our first song and then dancing most of the night in my comfortable dress and heels!
We jetted off to Italy the day after the wedding! We went to Venice, Florence and Rome. We have both always wanted to go to Italy, it is really romantic and beautiful... My favourite was our gondola ride in Venice and our wine tasting tour in Tuscany.
From the start, I knew I wanted a lace dress with an illusion back. I wanted something comfortable that I would be able to dance in but that would also tick all the right boxes. I was fortunate enough to find my dream dress at an affordable price at Bridal Manor in Pretoria. After a lot of hunting, I managed to find beautiful silver heels that I didn't take off my feet until the end of the night as well as beautiful drop ear rings and bracelet. My makeup was very natural with emphasis on my eyes, while my hair was done to this side to show off the back of my dress. So happy with the work of Hesmarie from HR Hair and Make-up Artistry.
We got married at Zebra Country Lodge in Cullinan. A beautiful venue in the mountains with zebras, impalas, giraffes and other animals. We only had 50 guests and most of them stayed over at The Stables and joined us for breakfast the next morning after a night of dancing and sitting by the bonfire until the early hours.
I tried to drink lots of water and get enough sleep (although that did not always happen) I went for chemical peels on my face and sunbed sessions during the months leading up to the wedding. And the day before the wedding I treated my mom and I to spa treatments. I had a facial, waxing, mani and pedi with acrylic nails and toes.
The groom and groomsmen hired their suits from The Dress Suit in Boksburg. The groom wore a dark grey suit and a light grey waist coat with a white shirt and burgundy tie. While the groomsmen wore light grey suit pants and waistcoat with a white shirt and burgundy tie. The groom wore oxblood coloured shoes with a black and blue Fossil watch.
The bridesmaids wore long burgundy dresses with a burgundy tulle skirt and white floral lace top from Gelique in Pretoria.
We had a wonderful pastor marrying us, Pastor Suzanne Henry from Redemption Church in Stoneridge on the East Rand. She is such a special lady that made our service so personal.
Luke and Valicia from Van Bower Photography. We couldn't have asked for better photographers! They are just amazing and captured our big day perfectly and with an artistic flair.
A safari vehicle came to fetch myself and my bridesmaids from the bridal suite and drove us to the chapel.
The talented chefs and Zebra country Lodge prepared our delicious buffet dinner.
We made our own stunning wedding website where guests could RSVP, read our story, request songs, get directions etc. We also made our own table "numbers" and name cards. Instead of traditional table numbers we chose some of our favourite movies and printed love quotes from the movies behind each name card.
Our first dance song was Best Friend by Jason Mraz. We decided not to go for dance lessons and just created a few moves of our own. Starry Night DJs did our sound and lighting and had us on our feet all night long! They played the type of music we asked for and read the crowd very well.
