Simplicity is best...

I woke up on the 21st January, after having only a three hour sleep, to an unexpected sunny day in Johannesburg, seeing the sun I suddenly felt an unnatural calm as it had been raining all through the month. The day started with a long, hot shower and a cup of coffee before our forty five minute drive to Oakfield Farm where my mom, dad and four of my bridesmaids would be getting dressed...a rather emotional drive, I should say.

With my hair and makeup almost done, I slipped into my wedding gown with the help of my mom, aunt (who was also my hair stylist) and my bridesmaids who buttoned me up... turning around to ruined makeup as their eyes filled up with tears.
As we made our way back home then to the church where our nuptials were taking place, I suddenly felt as if nothing else was of more importance than walking down the aisle to my groom... not the flower arrangements, nor the fear of me tripping over my dress or even how we'd dance to our wedding song.

Feeling anxious as the sound of the wedding cars hooting behind me as we approached the church... an overwhelming feeling, I couldn't help but burst into tears of utter joy, hurrying down the aisle, my eyes fixated on him as the tears streamed down his face, which he quickly wiped away...

It was time to get back to Oakfield Farm for our wedding reception dinner which was all I ever imagined it to be, with touches of dusky pink and white flowers, candelabras and floating candles all layed up on white washed square tables just added that vintage yet elegant touch.

As the night unfolded we ate, drank, we cried, we laughed, speeches were opened up to everyone and we were surprised by the groom singing to his new bride. Our sacrament was blessed with showers sent from above as the night drew to a close.

Our wedding was magical from beginning to end... simplicity is always best!
