When Luke and I decided to have a destination wedding, we didn't think for 1 minute that our wedding would be as amazingly perfect as it was.
We had a total of 24 guests at our wedding, it was small and intimate, with just our closest friends and family.
The venue, CocoRico in Ponta do oura, was rustic, simple and exactly what we had in mind.
We decided to have a beach wedding ceremony, no fancy fussing was needed. Everyone dressed comfortably in shorts or summer dresses and barefoot on the beach. Luke's best friend, Alan, did the honors of marrying us - which made our ceremony extra special. Luke and I even decided to write our own vows, its was just so incredibly beautiful. I tear up when I think of it.
The reception was held in the outdoor boma area, with a big bond fire in the middle and beach sand floor. I couldn't think of doing it any other way.
Our wedding was all DIY. We wanted a rustic beach feel (Without the starfish cliche). Our table settings consisted of glass jars, glass wine bottles, a few flowers and a lot of candles. Ponta do Oura doesnt have a massive list of vendors, so we needed to take everything with us - across the border - minimalist was key. We even made the wedding signs ourselves!
The morning of the wedding, it was all hands on deck (once the rain had stopped)! Family and friends all did their bit to help setup the reception and beach ceremony. There were lots of laughs, lots of stressful moments, but all that adds to the stories of the wedding.
I had one of my really great friends, Jolene do my hair - it came out great! Both bridesmaids and myself did our own make-up. They looked so beautiful.
Once the wedding had started, it was perfect - from start to finish. There was absolutely nothing I could fault on our special day. We ate so much food, the drinks were flowing, we all danced the night away.
It will be a day I will never ever forget! The perfect way to start the next chapter of our lives!
