Our wedding day was a romantic spring affair. My matron of honour woke me up at 6.23am in the morning with the song “Chapel of Love” by The Dixie Cups and as you can imagine there is no better way to set the tone for the day you marry the love of your life. Wesley (the groom) surprised with me a beautiful bunch of roses, perfume, the longest card I have ever seen him write, my favourite perfume and a bottle of Champaign which he had a personalised just for me on our special day. He personally delivered this to our room before the girls and I checked in.
While guests arrived my gran had arranged a Scottish Piper as a surprise. She heartbreakingly was not at our wedding as she passed away a month prior. She played a huge roll leading up to the wedding and was involved in almost every decision. I am sure she was there in spirit and we made her smile from the heavens.
When it was time to walk down the aisle my heart raced and I had butterflies as I wanted to look the best version of myself for the man I absolutely adore. When I saw him the world around me disappeared and I did not take my eyes off of him until I was at the altar by his side. We were married under a pepper tree on a beautiful spring afternoon at Buitengeluk in broadacres. We signed our marriage certificate in their glass house to the song "how long will I love you" by Ellie Goulding. It could not have been more perfect.
Guest enjoyed the wedding cake and some Giant Jenga while Wesley and fell more in love while we were taking photos. Filled to the max on delicious food, we later danced the night away our amazing family and friends. Our theme was a modern vintage, and our colours were black white and silver. We are inspired by the intricate detail of vintage, combine with a modern twist. That’s where the colours came in. Simple, elegant, intimate, romantic and opulent is what we were trying to achieve. As they say less is more.
The highlight of my wedding was our first dance. We had been for a few lessons but nothing is ever the same when all eyes are really on you and you need to remember the steps. Wesley was just amazing and in made me feel like a princess with the dips, the turns and my favourite when he lifted me up and spun me around. Another of the moments where the world melts away and life could not get any better than this.
A big thank you to our vendors, who were just so incredible and went above and beyond the call of duty. They made our day just out of this world and more than what we could have ever imagined from the from the glass balls of gip hanging under the pepper tree to the glass candelabras on the tables with beautiful long dinner candles amongst the flower arrangements and draping ivy, the incredible bouquets for myself and the bridesmaids, wonderful food, the most amazing looking and tasting cake, fabulous band, fairy lights draped from the chandeliers and so much more.
