Our wedding was a day that I will truly never forget. I could not stop smiling from the moment I woke up that morning until the time I closed my eyes. The poor photographer had to keep telling me to stop smiling so he could take some "serious" shots. I was bubbling with happiness because I was going to marry my best friend, whom I have known since I was 5 years old!!!
We got married at Macnut Farm in Assagay, KwaZulu Natal, which we chose because of it's beautiful, quaint and rustic surrounds.
Each and every guest were selected because they hold a special place in our hearts and have loved us and supported us throughout our years as individuals and as a couple. And you could definately feel the amount of love, happiness and laughter present that day.
My bridesmaids and I had so much fun getting ready and all glammed up that morning-we all felt like princesses, thanks to Debbie Lowe (Spoilt Beauty) and Mellissa Botes (Terry Scott Hair).
The one thing about the day that I will never forget, is that feeling just before I walked down the aisle. I was so nervous, I clutched my dad's arm so tightly, I left fingerprints on his skin. But as soon as I saw my soulmate's face smiling proudly at the other end, all my nerves just melted away. I was suddenly overwhelmed with so much love and emotion.
Our decor and flowers were very rustic, simple and pretty. Although most of it was done by Hannah Paine of Macnut Farm, we opted to do some DIY decor ourselves which made it so special and added a personal touch to our day.
Recently, someone asked me if there was one thing I could change about the day, what would it be.....and I can honestly say without a doubt...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!
If there was any advise I could give to a bride-to-be, it would be this: Enjoy every single moment leading up to the big day-don't stress the small stuff, take each step at a time and most of all HAVE FUN!! On the day, don't try and control every situation. Relax and enjoy yourself and most importantly, eachother. It goes so quickly-embrace each and every singly moment.
