The day I met Mark, I knew without an ounce of doubt that he was the love of my life, my Prince Charming and the man God had created for me. Two years later, on our beautiful wedding day, I still believed that with my whole heart… and today I still do too.
We had a very small and intimate wedding, with only very close family and friends who all played significant roles in our lives as a couple and have all watched us grow from strength to strength.
We were very blessed to have everyone we cherish so dearly witness our union and our promise before God.
The whole day, from early in the fresh morning to very late in the starry night, was filled with a peaceful presence. I remember many friends telling me that the day will fly by as it is terribly busy and nerves are sky high. This was not the case for me… I woke up with a sense of calmness which carried right through the magical day. Yes, I was excited, every bride is excited… but I was so sure of the life changing decision I was going to make that I was at ease every step of the way and with every breathe that I took.
The understated tone of the wedding was ever so romantic and whimsical; highlighting the love we have together and for each other, and giving all the glory to God rather than the day being just another day at just another wedding.
We were very fortunate and are still so grateful that my uncle married us. He has been a fatherly role model for me since my father passed when I was fifteen. Many people noticed that family was a strong theme in our wedding. From my uncle preparing a beautiful sermon to my mom walking me down the aisle… there was one united family front every step of the way. We have always been very blessed to have one family, and not two. Our parents had been close friends for over a decade before Mark and I met, so combining families was a joy rather than a difficult task. Mark’s dad, now my dad too, was only too happy to share the father-daughter dance with me and my mom was overjoyed to gain Mark as her son.
Both Mark and I can honestly say that our wedding day was absolutely perfect in every way.
We even had some long-time married friends tell us that looking at us and our wedding made them remember what true love really is.
Now, three months later, we are still strong, still in love and still holding onto our promises we made. Thank you Lord!
