Our wedding day was everything I imagined it to be and more.
On the morning of the wedding, I was filled with heaps of excitement and you couldn't wipe the gleaming smile off my face. There was a frosty chill in the air but a promising sunshine found its way to our special venue. We arrived early in the morning bringing along the cake, blankets, dresses and decor pieces. My husband and I drove in separate cars making a point not to see each other. Oh for the love of traditions! This was difficult. All I wanted to do was hug him and scream, "We are getting married today".
We got married at Fairway Hotel, Spa and Golf resort in Randburg. This venue was an absolute dream and spoke to our modern, trendy couple style. I got ready with my bridesmaids, flower girls and mom in the most spectacular bridal suite. Everything ran so smoothly, make up artists, hairstylist, photographer, videographer and florist were all punctual and delivered such beauty and extreme talent that day. I felt so blessed to have been able to have had it all.
My handsome husband got ready in another, just as gorgeous suite in the hotel with his groomsmen and page boy. I had given my husband a document detailing where everything should be placed in the reception hall, what exactly should be arriving, at what time it would be arriving and how it should look in the end. I might have gone a little itsy bitsy overboard in that respect. However, I was not disappointed at all. The chapel, reception hall and deck area were perfection. I had gone with a soft pastel palette and the underlying colour was a romantic pink. Proteas were the flowers of the day and they really added character to the wedding. My bouquet held three big proteas and even my wedding cake had sugar art hand made protea flowers. Everything was so perfect that I feel I am doing it a huge injustice trying to describe it.
My favourite part of the day was the wedding ceremony. It was just me and the love of my life declaring our love for one another. I constantly had a massive grin on my face and I always looked over to my husband giving him a smirk. We were together surrounded by our loved ones in the presence of God. How can this not be the most wonderful moment.
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening. From the heartfelt speeches, the creative dance moves we saw on the dance floor and walking into the venue to the Star Wars theme song. We had so much fun as we celebrated our marriage and having all our family and friends together for one night. This is definitely a recipe for success.
Our wedding day was magical and I wouldn't want to change anything about it. But marriage, marriage is the good part. I love every moment learning and growing with my husband. I've learnt so much about him, about myself and about us as a couple. We try to remain focused on building a strong and healthy relationship together and we devote so much of our time to it. We are having a marvelous time discovering each other and our new life together.
We hope you enjoyed the few moments of our wedding that we've shared with you. We look forward to sharing all these exciting adventures with you. Please have a look at our wedding gallery. The photos are absolutely mind blowing and really captures our happiness and love.
