"The past 1346 days have been a journey that has changed my entire life and I would love nothing more than to continue this adventure with you eternally" my husband, Steven Craig du Plooy.
Steven and I met in 2011 while we were both final year students. Our plan was to go on an adventure together in 2012 to Dubai, but the odds were against us and we ended up doing long distance for one year while I went to Dubai on my own. I came back because we could not be apart anymore and Steven and I have been inseparable since.
On 3 April 2015, Steven managed to get all of our closest friends and family together and make them part of our engagement. We were at the airport after checking in to our flights when we walked past sign boards with the above message on it. Trying not to jump to any conclusions, I ignored them until he stopped me and I looked back and all of our people were right there to witness our special moment. It was magical!
Almost one year later, on 2 April 2016, we said I do in front of the same special people. Our wedding day was the happiest day of our lives and the photos prove it. We were like two school kids holding hands for the first time and were so eager to be husband and wife that we kissed before our good friend and minister said, "you may now kiss the bride."
The wedding took place in my Great Grandfather's garden - Die Ambassade - where my family built the infrastructure for us to have an outside wedding. We did not have a rain plan, just faith that the skies will be clear and it was a perfect day. We are so grateful to have shared these moments with our closest people and cannot wait for the next steps we will be taking together.
