Yes! We met on Zoosk, an online dating site. Despite all the skepticism around online dating, after exchanging a few messages we met up for dinner one Friday night and the following Sunday for lunch. One year later we were engaged and another year we were one our way to say 'I do'. Everyone we know would more than likely agree that when Dean and I are together we are always laughing and having fun as good friends do.
A gorgeous and almost wind free day with a clear blue sky and breathtaking views of the ocean, we could not have asked for a more perfect setting in which to say 'I do'. Surrounded by 120 of our dearest friends and family on the unspoilt 16 Mile beach in Yzerfontein, a truly memorable and meaningful ceremony, something we will cherish in our hearts forever.
A simple but beautiful, rustic wedding was what we both had in mind. With a the magnificent view of the ocean and sunset, the renowned Strandkombuis, delivered and exceeded our every expectation. Our tables were decorated with soft salmon pink and white roses and fairy lights lit up the entire place. Our cup cakes came in a variety of flavours - chocolate, red velvet and, our favourites, carrot cake and salted caramel.
There were so many memorable moments to our wedding weekend in Yzerfontein from the pre-wedding parties where we all got to spend time together and have fun, to all the special moments on our big day - saying 'I do', listening to speeches from loved ones, laughing and dancing the night away and for the few brave hearts, even a midnight swim in the ice cold ocean.
I feel truly blessed to have married Dean, if there were a husband of the year competition, he would surely take the title, in my heart anyways.
