It was a happy happy day, not perfect, but we wouldn't change a thing.
Anthony (better known as Ant) and I were best friends for 6 years after meeting in class at TUKS in 2007. We'd gone through hell after I was told (at the tender age of 20) I might not be able to have children, and my dad suddenly passing away a few years later, Ant just loved and supported me through it all and the engagement in 2012 brought happiness to our families after much heart break.
We are a very laid-back couple (hence the 4 year engagement) with a passion for music, delicious food and being surrounded by family and friends, and our wedding day reflected just this.
We didn't splurge or get ourselves into ridiculous amounts of debt and roped in friends and family to help with the set up. Our ceremony was held on the TUKS campus in the gorgeous old pale yellow chapel, a place close to our hearts. My gorgeous mom walked me down the aisle. The reception venue (ABE at 012 Central) was hip and new, in the heart of Pretoria CBD.
We opted for Food Trucks (Tutto and Taco Kombi) as opposed to the traditional buffet, with ice cream cones by Whisk Away for dessert. The speeches were full of emotion and we danced the night away, and at 2am, I (in my wedding dress and all) drove my hubby and friends back to the guesthouse with a leftover macaroon tower on our laps. The best part was that we planned it together (in a matter of 4 months), it was a breeze and I still get chills down my spine when I reminisce over that phenomenal day.
