19 March, the day I had dreamed about for ten years, had finally arrived! It was the day that I got to marry my childhood sweetheart!
We met as high school students and I will never forget the day he asked me out under a tree on a small bench, it was magical! At the time I didn't realize that the boy sitting across from me would become my partner in life; the person who I would share my life with.
The week before our wedding was filled with anxiety as it was raining nonstop and our service was scheduled to be outside. Somehow on the day, the skies cleared and it was like fate stepping in, the forest at Galagos appeared like something out of a fairy-tale after being washed by the rain. My bridesmaids and I spent the entire morning snacking and giggling at the salon on the premises while the forest around me was abuzz as my closest family was running around to make sure my day would be perfect. The most surreal part of the day came as I stepped into my wedding gown, every girl dreams of that moment but once it arrives, it's indescribable! Seeing the tears in my dad's eyes as he came to collect me was bittersweet because I had finally grown up and would no longer be his little girl; he was entrusting me to another but I know he did it happily as he had watched for many years as the love between Johann and I grew. Upon walking down the forest path, I felt like a fairy princess. The most amazing part of that walk was seeing my future husband's face, it portrayed the ten years of our life together, our hardships and triumphs and why we were meant to be.
We planned our wedding together and added a musical theme to it as we both have a passion for music. Our day was filled with notes of bliss. We are lucky enough to know some amazing musicians and not only did they bring tears to the eyes of our guests during the ceremony but also immense joy during the reception.
Galagos provided us with a venue that made you feel like you were part of another realm and by the time we had our first dance, I felt like I was drifting on a cloud.
Luckily when the clock struck twelve, there were no pumpkins or mice involved and our wedding guests continued the merriment at the bonfire outside. I definitely did not want the night to end and looking back at the photos and the video of our wedding, I realize that there will never be a more momentous day in my life and I'm just lucky that our photographer captured that love on film so that it will forever live on, even once we are gone and our kids look at our album.
Here's to forever.
