Married on Mar 19, 2016

"Your wedding wasn't just a wedding, it was a marriage", said by one of our guests and it just meant so much to me. Our wedding was aimed to focus especially on the ceremony, the vows we took, the hymns we sang and the wisdom our minister imparted on us. We took a vow in the presence of God that we would stay loyal to each other and love each other for the rest of our lives. And of course we had all the pretty toppings that come with a wedding that added to our authentic and earthy theme.

We got married at Christ Church Hilton which was decorated with two mass arrangements filled with white roses, white chrysanthemums, fairy daisies, penny gum and abelia. The theme colours for the decor were white, green and brown(hessian). My bridal bouquet was a large(and very heavy!!) arrangement of white roses, gypsophila, orchids and myrtle greenery. Our reception was at Victoria Country Club and was decorated simply and timelessly. We had a jug of gypsophila on every table placed on a lace and hessian runner. Then jugs of fairy daisies were placed on the food tables and at the entrance of the reception venue.

My husband and I have a special love for the Drakensberg, and so we chose different mountains in the berg as names for our tables. I painted a landscape painting of the amphitheater as our seating's board that was placed on my easel at the entrance of the reception venue.

Sticking to our earthy and neutral theme, I chose the colour sage for my two bridesmaids. They wore infinity dresses made by Belle and Bravado. My groom and his groomsmen were dressed in grey suits; my husband in a three piece and the groomsmen in waistcoats and trousers all hired from Belle and Bravado.

My dress...what a dream dress!! It was a chantilly lace and layered organza gown which we bought from Belle and Bravado. I had every intention of getting a dress made by a cousin who had made my mum's wedding dress and all my aunts' wedding dresses. I went to Belle and Bravado just to get ideas. I tried on my dress last and as I put it on I knew it was the one! It was everything I wanted and everything I had dreamed of in a wedding dress. It was different to the trending wedding dresses of 2015/2016 and that's what I liked the most about it!

And now that our special day is over, we have the most gorgeous photos to remember it by and I get to relive those memories with my favorite person for the rest of my life!
