THE MOST PERFECT DAY . . . Set in a beautiful, rustic farm with chic, country elegance in the heart of the Midlands. After 11 years and 3 months I finally married my best friend, soul mate and High School sweat heart, Otto Rode. The theme of the wedding was a Forest theme and we were trying to achieve understated elegance in simplicity. We had a lovely ceremony in an open air chapel overlooking a lake surrounded by Midlands forest. We made all the decor ourselves and hired in some wooden logs and candlesticks for added effect. The flowers were done by a friend and given to us as a wedding gift. We had loads of fun playing croquette on the lawn while drinking craft beer, eating canapes and sipping special coffee from the local coffee roasters in the Midlands. At the reception we danced until we could barely breath and had blisters on our feet. One of my favorite parts of the evening was an extra special garter toss. This involved my husband taking my garter off my leg, tying my garter around a cricket ball with our wedding date on it and using his cricket bat to bat the "garter ball" off into the crowd of single men as I bowled the ball to him. . . We wish we could rewind the clocks and have the day all over again!!!
