"Today's the day", I had been waiting for this day my entire life. I couldn't wait to walk down the aisle with my daddy only to meet the love of my life, my best friend and the best dad my son could have, at the alter. The 27th February 2016 (just a day earlier than our 3 year engagement anniversary) marked the day I would become Mrs Groenewald, something I had been looking forward to for so long!
Off to my hairdresser/great friend bright and early, to get my unbelievably straight hair into rollers. My sister and cousin, the lovely bridesmaids, were there every step of the way making sure I was looked after all day. Make up was next on the agenda,at the guest house and before I knew it, it was time to put on my fairytale white wedding dress, one that my mommy dearest worked so hard for me to have.
Cabbage and Rose Country Venue is a mere 15 minutes out of town but a very long trip if you can feel your heart racing in your chest, so naturally my bridesmaids turned up the music and we sang at the top of our lungs all the way to the venue, definitely a sight to see! The moment had arrived and as I stared at the picture perfect memory in front of me, I was taken aback by the beautiful day the Lord had given me. I remembered the day I prayed and asked for a wedding that was so beautiful it would always be engraved in my mind, and although times were tough I was given this stunning gift.
We exchanged vows and sealed it with a kiss and it was official! From taking photos, to speeching and of course dancing the night away, not one moment was I not smiling. Smiling from pure happiness for I was surrounded by all who I love and cherish. The next day I woke up with that same smile on my face and I realised everyday I should wake up with "today's the day" alarming in my head because now and no other time, is when I get the honour of being a loving wife and mother... "Today's the day!"
