Welcome to Our Wedding Story
We are very excited to share our special day with you.
On the 9th November 2013, I accidently fell into a swimming pool, Timothy (a complete stranger at the time) dove into the swimming pool with all his clothes on to rescue me and my shoes. I remember looking into his eyes and feeling my entire world flip. Needless to say, on the 12th of February 2016, Timothy proposed.
We began wedding venue hunting straight away. After seeing a few venues, we settled on the Memoire. “Memoire offers the perfect exclusive venue for your wedding ceremony, with various spectacular settings to choose from. This exquisite establishment, not only promises distinct quality and excellent service, but also guarantees a memorable experience with style, grace and opulence.”
We certainly had a roller-coaster ride of events that followed the venue hunting. From visiting sixteen bridal boutique stores, make-up and hair trials, signing a gym membership, going to three bridal expos, dance lessons, per-marital counseling and finding all our suppliers…we could finally relax.
The 3rd of December 2016 – Our special day.
I remember waking up at the crack of dawn, feeling excited, anxious, worried and stressed. What a feeling! I arrived at Memoire with my bridal party at 08h00 so that we could start on the very important hair and make-up.
The weather was on our side and the day promised to be spectacular! We settled in our suite and the hair stylist got straight to work! I started to relax while eagerly waiting my turn for my hair and make up. Coffee, champagne, snacks and fruit served in our suite helped my nerves and before long I was having to take my place with the hair stylist. Our photographer started taking photos of the preparation involved in making the day special!
It was my wedding day and I was marrying the man of the dreams! I was so excited and couldn't believe this day had finally arrived! My mother and sister were at my side, sharing this time with me and my bridesmaid and mother in law were also part of all the preparations while the groom's party were in the room next door.
As I slipped my bridal dress over my head and as I looked into the mirror, I did not recognise the serene woman looking back at me. I was ready to walk down that aisle and say 'I Do'.
I do to a new chapter in my life.
I do to changing my name.
I do to doing life with my husband and partner.
As I walked down the road with my bridesmaids and mother, towards the church and my new future, my stomach tightened and an eager anticipation rose up inside me. There was a spring in my step and as the wind blew gently around my dress, I looked up at the blue sky and knew it was going to be a good day!
As I entered the church door I only had eyes for Timothy and will never forget the look of excited anticipation on his face. As I walked towards him to the sound of "A thousand years by the Piano Guys" it felt like it was only the two of us in that church.
The service was so relaxed and real and the pastor - who also happened to be Timothy's dad and my future father in law - made it so meaningful! There was such joy in our hearts as we made our vows to each other in front of family and friends and we couldn't help but let it spill out into laughter as we stumbled over one or two words and then struggled to get our rings on each other!
As we walked out that church, hands entwined, the unfamiliar rings brushing against our palms, rose petals falling all around us, I experienced a strange moment of deep happiness and completeness. I had waited all my life for this day and it was all that I had dreamt about!
