Our story begins with a dorky office romance. It started off with a polite "Hi" and "Goodbye" and quickly escalated to blushed faces and giggles. Maybe it was the way that Wayne built his data warehouse so brilliantly or the way I showed him how to create beautiful data graphics but the spark was there and we could not help but to give in...
It's probably every girls dream of a man on one knee on top of the Eiffel tower over looking one of the most romantic cities in the world. Every guy probably dreams of the girl just saying yes. After some serious ugly crying on my behalf and Wayne starting to question whether it was a good or a bad cry, I blubbered "obviously." So we both had our wishes and dreams come true that evening.
After 11 months of serious preparation and some very stressful evenings we really felt like every drop of energy pored into our big day was so worth it. Our wedding totally showcased our personalities and it was such a privilege to marry my knight in a navy suit, the person that makes me more me than I knew possible, my person. He is my favourite ice cream flavour and my favourite brand of bubbles.
Enough of the corny stuff. I want to use this post to help future brides know that it doesn't matter how hard you plan for everything to go smoothly it will probably not. Best to live and let live. Looking back I feel that the things that went wrong actually enhanced special moments. For instance, Eskom obviously chose to have a power outage on our wedding day in our reception area. Luckily the venue had generators but it did kick out the DJ's sound for quite a while. So, when we were supposed to walk into the reception hall for the first time as Mr. & Mrs. Potgieter we didn't have any music but our MC had charged the crowd up so much that everybody was cheering and absolutely going crazy. We walked down the aisle between the tables high five'ing the most important people in our lives.
Just enjoy this day ladies you will never have one like this ever again.
Everybody says that your wedding day is the best day that they never want to prepare for over again. I believe it's because of all the stress that can accompany this process. However, it changed my life. I have always loved hosting parties and I always wanted to be creative and didn't know how. Until I had to plan my wedding I realised what I want to do for the rest of my life.
I decided to leave my math days behind me and because I have the best, most supportive husband I can now pursue what I recently discovered was my dream all along. So, this gave birth to the start of Iets Niets wedding & event styling. Keep your eyes peeled ladies you shall see Iets Niets blooming soon enough and I hope you like the something new element that I would love to bring to your wedding.
