Liza-Mari Du Preez

Married on Oct 23, 2016

"Your love is my turning page, where only the sweetest words remain.
Every kiss is a cursive line, every touch is a redefining phrase.
I surrender who I’ve been, for who you are.
For nothing makes me stronger than, your fragile heart.
If I had only felt how it feels to be yours,
well I would have known - what I’ve been living for all along"

Du Preez Wedding #bestdayever

We had a Sunday, early afternoon, garden wedding. We chose this as a theme as we wanted a very laid back, non-formal, fun wedding. It worked out perfectly!

I wore a white, flowy wedding dress with lace and beading detail. My husband wore a tailored 'summer' suit (his pants were short). Our wedding party consisted of 4 people. The maid of honor, best man, ringbearer and MC. The Maid of Honor and Bestman are married and our closest friends. The MC is a childhood friend of the groom and the ring bearer is my brother.

The colours were white, with splashes of royal blue and powder blue. The Chapel had open sides with a gorgeous view of greenery, clouds and garden. The Musicians set the vibe with their violins, guitars and penny whistle. They played our processional song, which was more beautiful than I could've asked for. We had small 'Wedding Newspapers' printed to keep our guests entertained, wooden hand-fans to keep the ladies cool and customised labels on our water bottled which kept our guests hydrated. We used fresh, white rose petals as confetti. They were put in confetti cones, which we placed in the sherry tree outside the Chapel.

The musicians entertained after the ceremony, while our guests had canapes and refreshments while overlooking the breathtaking renaissance garden at the Valverde Eco Hotel.

We served a late lunch at our reception. The ceiling of the reception hall was covered in white chinese lanterns, draped in white with fairy lights and candles on the side pillars. It looked stunning! We served wine on each table. Thank you gifts were pebbles with handwritten inspirational words (and no-one left there pebbles behind!). We had a menu printed for each guest in our wedding colours, finished of with a pearl glued to the top. The menu had something for everyone. Vegetarian option, fish or pork. Our dessert was a candy bar, which went off really well, as well as wedding cupcakes which were served while we cut our cake.

As you can imagine, the wedding didn't end late and we were still very much in a state to enjoy the rest of our wedding night as Mr and Mrs. The guests did enjoy dancing, having drinks and shooter but it didn't end in drama or our guests getting out of hand, which is exactly why we had an earlier wedding.

Our wedding went so smoothly (also because we had an amazing wedding party!). It was honestly the #bestdayever!

Love Thou Neighbour...

So, our story began as neighbours! From neighbours, to friends, to best friends, to dating, to engaged and now married!

We got engaged in Ballito on the morning of 29 December 2015. The setting was breathtaking. The sun was rising, it was peaceful and it was just me and Jarrod. My husband recorded the whole engagement without me even knowing!

Soon after we got back to JHB from our holiday, we went venue scouting. It wasn't long when we found the perfect venue, Valverde Eco Hotel. All the decisions regarding the wedding were easy as we agreed on a lot and we knew we wanted an intimate Sunday afternoon, garden wedding.

We are a relaxed and fun loving couple. We laugh, a lot! We enjoy spending time outdoors and with family and friends. We are best friends. I could not have asked for a better person to spend the rest of my life with.

I know that every bride thinks that her wedding was the most perfect day ever. Well, I officially joined the club. I think our wedding was more perfect than I could have ever imagined it to be. All the detail we did ourselves (which made me appreciate the wedding and how it all came together, so much more), all the guests that were invited - attended our wedding, the food was fantastic, the musicians were magical and most of all we were relaxed and enjoyed every second of this day.
