As most ladies, I had been dreaming about my wedding day for as long as i can remember, twirling in my moms curtains pretending to be a bride, well on the 21st October 2016 that day finally arrived, along with my gorgeous prince charming, the day was more than I ever imagined it would be.
Our most beautiful day was held at the exquisite Oakfield Farm, where every need and requirement was met and exceeded and nothing too much to ask. Everything on the day was exactly as we imagined it to be, and the convenience of having it all on one property was just such a blessing.
After months of planning (an incredibly enjoyable experience on its own), finally the day arrived where everything would fall into place. Dress - check (the most breathtaking creation i have ever seen); suit - check; gorgeous flower girls and heart balloons for the ceremony - check; bride and groom parties - check (along with buckets of excitement on their part); venue, flowers (Willem Jansen van Vuuren), Photographer (Grace Studios), DJ (Dance Jam Entertainment), MC's and 160 guests - check ..... this day was going to be unforgettable.
As most couples, we wanted things to be a little different .... our different, and it started with our little flower girls entering the chapel with metallic helium heart balloons to the sound of the amazing saxophonist Rika Coetzer), both our late father and step-father's framed pictures, each on their own chair right in front of the chapel, a handsome groom at the altar, and my mom as my matron of honor, the stage was set .... set for the moment i had always dreamt of .... i walked down the isle on the arm of my first hero, my dad, to Ellie Gouldings 'How long will I love you' ... and yes.... it was everything i imagined it to be. After a moving yet light hearted and blessed ceremony, the formalities were done and it was time for the celebration of the year. After being showered with petals, love and laughter as we exited the chapel, we made our way to the gazebo for some snacks, where our incredible Cheese tower replaced the usual wedding cake ..... this was definitely a highlight for us and the guests.
After completing our family and friends shoot, we made our way to the breathtaking gardens of Oakfield Farm, where we captured the most incredible images of love, respect and unity i have ever seen. Abigail Meaker from Grace Studios was just incredible at keeping the pace and allowing us to wallow in true bliss.
Now.... it was time, time to get down and celebrate with our incredible family and friends. As we entered the venue, it was just breathtaking to see how everything came together, not to mention the flow of our colours navy, taupe and blush pink ..... wow, I had never seen anything more beautiful. We had 2 incredible MC's who ran the event in an 'Oscars' style, very comedic and entertaining. I arranged for a suprise performance for my husband by our God Daughter, singing 'I would walk 5000 Miles' in her angelic voice, bring most people to tears, including ourselves. Opening the dance floor to Jason Mraz 'Love Someone' we completely melted into each others arms, floating around like two wisps of wind intertwined, both transported to another place, a place that is simple, beautiful ... its called love. We took the services of ML Photography with their photobooth, where our guests were able to take a passport photo to place in our guest book with a message, so that we have an image and message of that night that will last us forever.
Thereafter we enjoyed some speeches and soon it was time to eat. The menu was just of the best quality, although admittedly we did not have much of an appetite. The usual proceedings followed of the bouquet and garter throw, and then we opened the dance floor.
We had one last suprise up our sleeves for our guests, they were suddenly directed to the stage in the back corner, where the MC's on base, guitar and vocals were accompanied by the groom himself on drums, kept all entertained with hit songs from their childhood band and a few radio favorites..... suuuuper cool!!!!
after the clock struck 02:00, the lights came on, the shoes already off and it was time to call it a day. Although the lights and music may have ended that night, the memories and stories, love and support have not stopped and i believe.... they never will.
I can truly say .... it was OUR most beautiful day!!
