Our wedding took place on the first of October 2016 at a beautiful place called Umuzi Lodge in Secunda. It was a very pleasant day, weather wise, the sun was shining brightly and there were no dark rain-clouds in site. My Bridesmaids and I was up very early the morning in order to be in time for hair and make-up, which we had done at Depeche Mode and Purple Moon (Depeche Mode for hair and Purple Moon for Make-up), a salon at Umuzi Lake right next to Umuzi Lodge, which is not very far apart. Umuzi Lodge also has a wedding planner on site who helps in many ways, she can do the décor, flowers, cake etc. However, we have decided to do most of the décor ourselves. I have collected glass bottles for the past two years (Schnapple, beer bottles and even wine bottles) to be placed on the tables with flowers. We also decorated most of the bottles with raffia, ribbons and burlap, to name a few, and we even spray-painted some it too. We also collected Douwe Egberts coffee jars to use as part of the wedding favours for our guests.
My wonderful mother took on the task of sewing over approximately 900m of bunting, which was used in the reception hall, celebrations deck and the bridge leading to the reception hall, to name a few and she also made the burlap runners on the tables. We made tissue paper pom-poms that were used in various places on the venue. My husband made the heart garland, hanging at the back of the chapel; it was made with approximately 600 hearts which we have cut out of white cardstock. Our cake and the cupcakes were supplied by Bianca Steyn, who owns a very cute little coffee shop and B&B, named Snooze-a-lot and Eat-a-Lot, and the cake and the cupcakes were very delicious. The flowers, under plates, chairs and the other crockery and cutlery were supplied by Umuzi Lodge and the setup was done by the staff and friends and family also helped. We made the bouquets out of Crepe paper which I ordered online by Luna Artistry. I made my own jewellery and I bought my dress at Cinderella’s Closet, situated in Germiston, Johannesburg. The DJ services we used are from AMA Promotions in Johannesburg and our photographers are from Witbank, Amorie Stark Photographer (on Facebook).
For me, our wedding was very beautiful and the most perfect day and there is not one thing that I would change and I am very grateful for everyone who helped and I want to thank everyone who helped with the DIY projects and for the services we received from our suppliers.
