“ You are my Greatest Adventure”: the day I married the love of my life- Brett Stevens.
Joy, fun and laughter have been a big part of our relationship and we decided our wedding should be no different. We went for a Rustic County theme, outside on a gorgeous piece of land in Muldersdrift owned by the family. Gorgeous white tents, wooden tables and home- made centre pieces, including our favourite song lyrics, and stunning coral roses really stood out on the rustic setting. Our colour scheme was coral and gold- the brightest happiest colours we could find. Refusing to be too traditional I chose a dress to wow and surprise, and hubby looked like a knockout in his gorgeous custom suit.
We had our stunning ceremony under a beautiful tree on the property where literally also Tied the Knot, and exchanged our “Promise To’s & I Do’s”.
After a quick wardrobe change into a fun party dress it was time for the reception…Brett and I choreographed a “swing” dance for our first dance to a country Rascal Flatts song and got many an “ooh and ahhh” from the guests.
Our food was divine- Burgerpops and Fries, Meze & Mexican Platters, and an elaborate dessert bar and wedding cakes made by myself- a chef &wedding cake maker could not pass up the opportunity to cater her own wedding…
A highlight was our Cake Smash- where guests could vote on who they wanted to get cake in the face- which ended up being both of us. There was lots of love and laughter and speeches that brought tears to everyone’s eyes. And we finished the night dancing under the stars…
We may not have gone for a fancy feel…but the day was glorious and special and reflected in every way who we are as a couple.
I have never had a more fun day laughing and crying and dancing and smiling from ear to ear- and who can blame me- it was the day I got to declare to our whole world- the great love I have for my best friend and now husband.
