I had the most magical day. Everything was so perfect, as perfect as it could have been and I didn’t let the insignificant things worry me. I had just been released from hospital, I fell really ill 4 weeks prior to the wedding. According to everyone, I was the calmest bride they had ever seen. I think it had a lot to do with knowing I was making the right decision, and realising the important things in life. Walking down the isle and seeing the big smile on my husband-to-be’s face, I don’t think I have ever seen him smile quite like that, it’s something I will never forget. My only real wish is that I could have been fully recovered, strong enough to have enjoyed the day to its fullest, to have had our planned first dance and partied the night away with our friends and family, but I really did make the most of it! I had my bridesmaids administering my post op painkillers and keeping my glass of wine topped up, to see me through the busy night.
It was easy keeping a smile on my face when I got to marry the man of my dreams, my soul mate, all of the insignificant things disappeared, it was a day just about us and our happiness. Many people asked if we would postpone the big day, but it didn’t seem right. We wanted to celebrate our happiness with all of our friends and family who had travelled so far, besides the wedding seemed meaningless in the bigger picture of things, we were planning on spending the rest of our lives together, and if that meant I would have to sit and take it easy most of the night, so be it!
Greg confirmed his love for me over and over again. I saw the fear on his face when he thought I was slipping away before our lives together had even began, but the smile I saw on his face on our big day warmed my heart and all I could do was smile back. Our love had grown stronger still, although I never thought possible. It all went so quickly though; I wish I could have hit the pause button on our day.
