Never perfection, but perfect to me. I met my husband in 2007 through mutual friends. In 2012, the universe decided it was time for romance. We met again, and immediately fell in love. In 2013 he proposed and we got engaged. We decided on a "boere sjiek" wedding theme because he's the boertjie and I am the barefoot, boisterous girl with a lot of finesse. The main rule for preparations was hand made. I did most of the work myself, including cutting more than 800 egg boxes to make 200 flowers. I also made my own wedding cake. The wedding was a weekend wedding with guests arriving on the Friday and staying until Sunday. On Friday evening, celebrations started with a bring & braai, allowing friends and family to get acquainted. I spent Friday evening with my 2 sisters, of whom 1 was my bridesmaid. Saturday morning started out with allot of nerves but also excitement. As soon as Mariè Malherbe and her crew arrived, things started falling into place. Before long, it was 3 o'clock and my mum and bridesmaid were doing the final fiddling with my gown and accessories. As I was walking down the aisle on my fathers arm, guests were wiping away emotional tears. My heart was pounding and I could not wait to hold Johan's hand. His eyes also hand a little extra shine to them. Ds Adriaan Haasbroek delivered the most beautiful and blessed sermon from 1 Cor. 13:1-8. All about love. After signing the register and getting showered with confetti, we left for our photo shoot. The guests, well the one's that were not watching the Rugby Curry Cup Final, enjoyed some canapés and cocktails before entering the hall, were Mr. & Mrs. Lubbe were loudly welcomed. Speeches, some very funny, others a little teary, were next, followed by the cutting of the cake. After we opened the dance floor, everybody enjoyed a very nice home style cooked dinner. Flowers and garter were thrown and then the party started. Guests were dancing until after midnight. Sunday morning every body enjoyed a nice farm style breakfast and spent the rest of the morning around the swimming pool while guest were saying goodbye and leaving. Perfect ending!!
