We got married on the 1st March 2014. Our ceremony was held at a beautiful quaint stone chapel in Assagay Durban, and our reception was held at Bellevue Cafe in Kloof. My husband and I have 12 years' history and it was in April 2013 when he told me he had a "business conference" to attend in Cape Town and would like to make a weekend of it for us. We arrived on the Friday morning and he had some time to spare before his "meeting" in the late afternoon, so he insisted that we go up Table Mountain. Totally unsuspecting, we walked around, admiring the beauty that lay below us. We walked out to a look out point and it was there that he pulled out a ring box from his pocket and proposed to me. I was literally on top of the world at that moment! Most romantic day of my life. Needless to say, there was no "business conference" and we enjoyed the rest our weekend celebrating our engagement in gorgeous Cape Town.
We both agreed on having a smaller wedding. Big venues were just daunting and we wanted a different chic cafe style wedding. We wanted a dining experience with good food and wine, and to keep it local. Our chosen reception venue was just up the road from where we live and is a restaurant/cafe that we frequent and love. It offered the perfect chic cafe vibe. We chose a modern industrial palette of greys with pops of raspberry red for colour. I was lucky enough to have a man who did actually care about colour scheme and decor, and with his graphic design background, he made our theme come to life. Every piece we chose reflected US in some way and our day turned out to be exactly that...a celebration of the love we share, with those that really matter, the journey we've been on over the last 12 years and the new chapter that lies ahead as husband and wife!
