The day my husband proposed to me was one of the memorable days in my life but did not at all compare to the day when I finally took the steps down the aisle to him completing our journey together.
Craig proposed to me on a breath-taking Sunset Cruise in October 2012 and I remember being all excited about it and within one month I found my perfect (at the time) wedding gown at House of Silk agent for LaSposa Dresses.
Looking back, I remember feeling overwhelmed with joy and happiness. I finally get to marry my best friend, lover, motivator and partner in crime. Let also not forget that in this time we also became parents to a beautiful baby boy named Jude….Somewhat Taboo I know, but I would not change it for the world. Within a month, venue booked, photographer booked and was fortunate enough to have my beautiful gown imported.
Little did I know, there was a big surprise waiting for me. We were expecting again, and this time little peanut was due to arrive a few weeks after our planned wedding date.
One can only imagine the stress….Could we move our date? Will the photographer, décor and venue be available on the same day again and most importantly, would the dress still fit.
My shattered Nerves.
Through lots of prayers, begging and tears, we were privileged to be able to make all the shifts. New Date was to be March 2014, only 8 weeks after baby’s arrival.
So date was confirmed and all I had on my mind was if that dress would fit. I must admit, planning was so much fun and I would do it again and again and again (yes that’s how much I enjoy it).
In January we once again became proud parents to a gorgeous little girl named Blake.
Craig and I resonated with the THE GREAT GATZBY theme. We could visualise our décor, from large feather pieces, feather headbands and draped pearls with lace elements on dresses.
There was one thing I did not have or nor did I want it, and those were flowers. My Bouquet was made of buttons. A dear friend of mine handmade each bouquet for bridesmaids and myself with a total of 2500 buttons and needless to say, I was the bride and got to have the big one!
Our Ceremony was held close to the pond at the estate overlooking the mountains. When finally coming down the aisle and seeing my husband shed a tear, melted me completely. Walking down to Cristina Perri – "A thousand years", remembering just taking one step closer to officially becoming join in one before God, our kids and our family.
Blake (meaning light or dark), was the light to our new beginning and we decided to have her dedicated to God before our friends and family.
Our wedding celebration was a real labour of love.
There after, guests helped themselves to some Tappas and Wine while enjoying a photobooth in the time we went off to take some pics.
Our Reception was completed in the Wine Cellar Hall beautifully decorated by Blooming Wonderful Décor. With feather centre pieces, little bake shop, vintage décor and kids corner to enjoy themselves.
Our day was everything I dreamed it would be and would like to thank all the people who participated in helping it all come together and making it special for Craig and I.
