Chene Musgrove (Johnson)

Chene Musgrove

Married on Mar 8, 2014

“I love you. I thank God every day that I have you in my life. Will you marry me?” Here I am on a sunny winter’s morning in the middle of the Botanical gardens having a pick nick for my 24th birthday. In front of me on one knee is my soul mate, my best friend, my hero and boyfriend of 5 years asking me to marry him. I’ve waited so long for this moment - I didn’t even dream of it being this perfect! I tried not to cry but through all the tears, happy tears, I said yes! We decided to get married on the 8th of March 2014, only 10 months after we’ve got engaged. This date is very special for us as my parent got married on the 7th of March and his parents got married on the 9th of March. We chose the 8th in-between the anniversaries of our parents. We tied the knot at the stunning wedding venue Tres Jolie in Ruimsig, God blessed us with rain on our special day, as we got married right in the middle of the torrential rain we experienced in March. The day started with the sun peeking through but a huge storm broke loose just as I got dressed. It was as if the rain had perfect timing that day. It started raining just as I was getting dressed, it stopped raining as I walked to the chapel, it rained during the ceremony and right after the ceremony it stopped raining again. After the beautiful ceremony we spent some time with our amazing family and friends before taking photos of us as brand new husband and wife, the rain came down gently in our last few shots, but it is the little details like this that made our day more precious - that kiss in the rain (that you so hoped wouldn’t fall!). We had a delightful reception, lovely food, great music and the warm snuggle and vibe of happy friends and family while the rain patter on the roof… I absolutely loved our opening dance, such a special moment that I will never forget. Me and my dad’s father daughter dance is also one to remember, we did a funny dance and none of our guests suspected it, we had such a laugh looking through our wedding photos, seeing the guests faces as my dad did a Beyoncé dance move, priceless, unforgettable! Even the traditional garter and bouquet was spiced up and the girls had to play musical chairs for the flowers while the guys had a dance-off for the garter, and all of this followed by some lively dancing – the best way to end a big (albeit rainy) celebration! We enjoyed every second of our big day; I can’t help but smile thinking of our wedding day. I’m sad that it is over, but in my heart I will cherish every moment, till the day I die I will remember the day I gave my life, my heart to my soul mate, my best friend, my hero my incredible husband Donovan Musgrove!
