Jessica Smit

Jessica Smit

Married on Dec 12, 2014

Our story started 9 years ago when I met my husband to be in Cape Town. He was working on a construction project while I was still completing my matric. We went on a few dates, nothing serious but became good friends. Unfortunately in his line of work when the project is completed he moves away to start a new one.

We kept in contact for a while when he moved to JHB and visited each other now and again. With time both of us got busy with our own lives, I started my studies and the distance got between us. We lost contact for 7 years, both of us doing our own things and carrying on with our journey in life.

After my studies I decided to move to JHB as I have a lot of family living there. I started my career there and about two years into that I noticed him in the traffic one morning. I then decided to search him on Facebook that night. We exchanged numbers and started chatting again.

Short after that he moved to his next project in Ellisras but said that he still comes to JHB to visit the family. One Friday evening my best friend and I were getting dressed to go out for the night when I got a phone call from him to ask if he could come and visit. I thought it was perfect timing since we haven’t seen each other in ages and it would be comfortable to go out as a group of friends. That night we just clicked and with us being more mature and more sure of what we wanted in life we just hit it off. From there we started dating and things just got even better the more time we spent and the better we got to know each other.

On the 12/12/2014 my dreams came true as I married not only my life partner but my best friend!!!! It was a fairy tale wedding as everything was exactly what we wanted. We did all the cake tasting, décor meetings and planning ourselves, making it even more personal and fun!

I look forward to all the good times together and to build on to the marriage as time goes on. I believe it will be like a good bottle of red wine …….just getting better with time. We are both fully committed never to take each other for granted and always appreciate each other for as long as we live. I now know that everything happens in God’s time and then it is even better than you could ever imagine it to be.
