A star filled, humid Autumn evening in Umhlanga’s Oyster Box hotel is where our fairytale began and we became engaged.
Being of Cypriot descent we had two options for our wedding day - A big traditional celebration which meant entertaining 300 guests or a small and intimate destination wedding. Phuket in Thailand soon became the logical choice where we would tie the knot.
Ever since I was a little girl my favourite flowers have been orchids, my husband is happiest on the beach and at the warm Andaman ocean coupled with the fact that both myself and my husband are truly passionate about the exotic flavours of Thai cuisine.
The ceremony took place on a jetty over the ocean with the tropical forest and mountains behind us. Surrounded by our immediate family and close friends we exchanged personal vows. White orchid arrangements were everywhere and as the pink sunset faded candles lit up the starry night sky as we laughed, cried, danced and broke plates in true Greek style all night long. Fresh shellfish, Thai green curry and Tom Yum Goong soup tickled our taste buds while we listened to the romantic sound of our personal violinist playing our favorite songs..
Our special day was better than we could have ever dreamed it would be...and for those few hours we experienced our very own fairytale and I felt like a princess who had married her prince. It was magical and a day we will never forget.
