Angelique van Straaten (De Jager)

Angelique van Straaten

Married on Dec 6, 2014 in Gauteng

Months of planning, weeks of excitement, and a regular count down of days… stressful at times but it was all worth it for our Big day has exceeded all our expectations. On 7 December 2013, my dearest husband surprised me with the most beautiful on engagement on a beach near Cape Town while we went horse riding. Without any doubt in my heart, I said yes loud and clear through tears of absolute joy. After our very first date a few years ago, I immediately phoned my mother to tell her that I have met the man of my dreams as she recalls it. The moment when he slipped the ring on my finger, a million ideas went through my head. We looked at possible venues to make sure we get one that has a classy but comfortable atmosphere. We decided to go with Fatherland Estate… The grass roof by the water with the wooden deck and the most beautiful chapel stole our hearts. We knew that this was the perfect place to give say our vows. The vintage theme, dirty pink and earthy colors suited the venue perfectly. I decided to make most of the things by myself and my loving husband was involved in all the planning. That morning, 6 December 2014, I woke up with a smile on my face and so much peace in my heart. The first day of my new life, the day everyone has been waiting for and definitely the best day of my life. I shared a special morning with my mother and bridesmaids. They went out of their way to treat me with a candle light bubble bath, Champaign, snacks and presents. This was a nice build up and I enjoyed every moment. Lots of butterflies entered my stomach as my mom and I stood in front of the chapel, ready to enter after I have rang the bell. The wedding march began to play and I experienced so many emotions at once. My heart stopped when the church doors swung open before me. The moment was perfect and I was caught in the tearful eyes of my dear husband. He looked like a dream and suddenly nothing else mattered. After our lovely ceremony and photo session we met our family and friends at the reception area. The venue looked like a fairytale; it was everything I had dreamt of and more. We enjoyed our wedding day just as much as our guest. We ended our memorable day as greeted our last guest. The following day we left for Mauritius. The honeymoon was just perfect. We thank God today that he has brought us together. We were so blessed to have a flawless wedding day. We know that this is only the beginning of a beautiful marriage.
