I will be marrying a man who has been an acquaintance, then a close friend and finally the man of my dreams. Alvin and I met as silly teenagers but became close as we volunteered with the same organization for the last decade. He has taught me how to live a life of faith, and how to stop worrying about tomorrow. He makes me laugh, he makes me food. Most importantly, he has made me forget doubt and insecurity and has shown me love in a way I could never have imagined.
Our engagement party was a small get together of immediate family and our wedding party and our Harry Potter theme reflected our strange and nerdy relationship.
Our ceremony will take place in our church where we have grown as a couple and individuals and each part of the ceremony, from the lighting to the music and confetti, will be reflections of our love an relationship. Our reception has a Victorian literary theme, as I am studying Victorian literature and will use mostly recycled paper decorations which are being hand made by myself and my bridesmaids. My favourite colour will be heavily featured (naturally) and my dress is being recycled from a family member's 20 year old dress.
Attempting to plan our own wedding, while I am completing an MA degree is proving tough but it will be worth it all to see my love at the altar as we begin our forever.
