Naseera Joossab

Married on Nov 29, 2014

Our journey began 8 years ago in 2006 as 2 individuals totally oblivious of how our lives would be intertwined and the inseparable bonds that would soon form between us. Over the years, we shared trials and tribulations, laughter and tears and in each other we found our best friend, soul mate and partner for life. In 2011 we were engaged and set our sights on our big day for 2014. January 2014 marked the start of our preparations for our special day. We found the perfect cream and gold invitation cards and announced to our closest family and friends that 29 November 2014 would be a day of celebration.

We set out to find the perfect venue and without hesitation, we knew Coastlands Hotel (Durban beachfront) would be the place once we laid eyes on it. The staff worked tirelessly to make sure our wedding day would be perfect. The rich burgundy, cream and gold colour scheme was the perfect setting for our evening occasion. The candlelit isle and tables as well as fairy lights set the mood for a romantic and serene evening.

The function kicked off with the official religious ceremony (Nikkah) in joining us in holy matrimony. This was followed by the reception where we made our entrance as husband and wife in carefully selected bridal attire in a perfect combination of east meets west, white and gold his and hers matching outfits. Our close family and friends then had the opportunity to bless us and had a chance to embarrass us with speeches! The formalities of the exchange of rings followed as well as cutting of the cake, a three tier rich chocolate cake, of which we took great pleasure in indulging in later! The remainder of the evening was a light-hearted social filled with Indian delicacies, desserts and photography.

The months of preparations and build up to the few hours on our wedding day was worth it. The day was more than perfect, more than we dreamed of - from the prior days of prayers, bridal henna application and social gatherings, to the wedding deco, food and guests. Sharing the day with our parents, closest family and friends was priceless. Marriage and a wedding is all about special memories, love, family unity and happiness, and that is exactly what our wedding was - a beautiful celebration of our love.
