Janine Watkins Berger (Watkins)

Janine Watkins Berger

Married on Jan 23, 2014

Its not every day that one gets to meet someone so special that they would eventually tie the knot with, like I did when I met Gunter. It was instant that we knew there was something unique about each other that just couldn't slip away.

After a year of long distance relationship and beautiful proposal, I found so much excitement in planning our wedding. The theme was to keep it simple and elegant, making sure that we would have the time of our lives. It was truly the time of our lives, the best event ever!No stress and no fuss.

We had wonderful suppliers that were fantastic to work with, professional and committed to ensuring they captured the vision we had for our day.

Cape Town was our destination wedding, it was after all where we met and our love organically grew over that year when we were living apart. The venue was Silver Mist, Constantia, a breathtakingly view of the organic wines farm and mountains.

The day of our wedding was a lovely summers day. After being pampered with professional hair and make-up artists, I just wanted to get into my dress and head to the alter! Just a few minutes away from meeting my husband to be, I had a wedding dress mishap - my strap came off! After scrambling for a needle and thread I headed off!

Walking with my dad through the forest onto the lawn in view of Gunter was an overwhelming feeling. Seeing my guests as I passed them, was just so exciting, as many of them I haven't seen for a while. Standing across from Gunter, who I thought looked truly handsome, all I could think of was lets just get to the "I DO's".

After we exchanged our vows, signed the registry and met with our guests it was time to have fun and celebrate our commitment with the ones we love. The food, the live music was just perfect. At one stage of the night I was kidnapped by my Father-In-Law and Sister-In-Laws from the venue and taken to a pub down the road. In true Austrian tradition, the bride gets kidnapped and the husband has to look for his bride at the closest pub. When he finds her, she gets whisked away again to another pub, where the groom has to look for her again and again. Luckily we went to one spot and returned to our party.

We would like to thank our parents for the support and help in making our day perfect. Thank you to my wonderful friend Kerry Mc Intosh for her unconditional love and support and making sure that everything was being co-ordinated in Cape Town.

Finally, thank you to my wonderful funny and loving husband. I'm grateful everyday that we found each other!!

Love Janine
